    Not for the Average Calibrator...

    DVE is by far the most comprehensive, in depth calibration tool available on the market today. Unfortunately, without extensive knowledge of the calibration tests themselves, or proper pc equipment hooked up to your display, you'll find the disk somewhat limiting. Pros: This disk has every possible test you could possibly want on it, with the ability to calibrate color, convergence, 3:2 pulldown, proper de-interlacing ability of the display, among many many more features. Both the HD DVD version as well as the standard def versions are included on the combo disk. It's One of the Only HD DVD calibration disks on the market right now. Cons: No real instruction as to how to use the more advanced tests or what to look for in them. No manual is included. (A 150+ page manual can be ...

    Video Essentials for HD DVD An Opinion

    The main reason for purchase was my current Samsung television is over 5 years old. According to my senses; all appears well, but the new wave is coming; that being Blu-ray. I simply wanted to see if I still was getting my monies worth; and part of the male in me was thinking about the possibility of a new toy, that being a new TV set. The company has all the credentials you could ask for and it seemed like a no brainer. After receiving it I found that it needed my input for comparison. It was not just drop in place and it either works or does not. The video display is like watching National Geographic in HD (that is, if your set is working right).     Digital Video Essentials LCD HDTV setup DVD

    I decided to buy this one over the other discs, AVIA, Monster, THX, for it's user friendly descriptions, and it's pro level calibration test patterns. Being a video engineer, I found that the patterns were all I needed to get a good picture on my LCD. The supplied color filters were a nice addition since you can't turn "blue only" mode on like professional monitors to check saturation and hue. It also had good video examples to test the settings on after calibration. The other thing I loved, and why I bought it is that it had both HD-DVD and SD DVD sides on the disc...making it easy to check multiple inputs on the TV from the same source.

    A must have for all HD/Home Theater Enthusiests!!!

    At first glance, trying to use this tool was well, mind-boggling. I had no idea what the heck I was doing. But after a little research-and by research I mean a few days- I was able to decipher the caliberation tools and optimize my home theater to the best it can be. And after optimization, I have to say my home theatre is amazingly better than it was before. Sounds are leveled, picture is sharper, colors are vibrant and not drowned out. If you invest thousands of dollars into your home theater, you MUST spend an extra 20-30 dollars to get this hd dvd. Also if you dont own an hd dvd player, and you have a blu-ray player, Joe Kane is releasing a blu-ray version later on in 2008, so you wont have to wait long!

    A no- brainer to buy for the enthusiast!

    This has been the reference, forever, and this newest version is no different. This is THE set up disk for the videophile and audiophile! If your the person that fumbles with plugging cables in the back of your reciever or cant rattle off the specs of your equipment off the top of your head, this might not be for you. If you can however, your in for a treat. Like the other DVE discs its a pain to use until you get the goofy menu set up but worth the time spent. Information content is huge and you will get an education as well as tuned up equipment. TONS of content on this including test patterns and set ups for anything. 5.1, 6.1 CRT, DLP, dont worry, everyones covered! Must have disc!
