À propos de ce produit

Product Information

Upon its initial publication in 1975,Salem's Lotwas recognized as a landmark work. The novel has sold millions of copies in various editions, but it wasn't until Centipede Press published a special limited edition in 2004 that King's masterpiece was brought to brilliant and eerie life. With the addition of fifty pages of material deleted from the 1975 manuscript as well as material that has since been modified by King, an introduction by him, and two short stories related to the events of the novel, this edition represents the text as the author envisioned it. Centipede's deluxe edition, of which only 900 copies were printed, features lavishly creepy photographs by acclaimed photographer Jerry Uelsmann, printed interior endpapers, and a stunning page design. Doubleday is proud to make this volume, printed from the original design of the Centipede Press edition, available to the general reader. No King aficionado's library will be complete without owning this definitive illustrated edition of the greatSalem's Lot.

Great price, fast shipping, authentic vintage item. 1 thing I would suggest though is to not ever put tape directly on perfume bottles. It pulls off the finish. Overall a good experience and I would buy from seller again.

  • EARLY KING CREEPS IN A FINE EXTENDED EDITION

Yes, it was written in the 1970's, and some of the dialogue feels funny now, but re-reading King's second novel reminds me yet again, how good his early work is. And this illustrated edition is nicely printed with good paper and interesting photo montages that are suggestive rather than literal. Another bonus is the new forward by the author, explaining his inspiration for the story and his childhood love of Bram Stokers Dracula. There are also two short stories that came before the novel, and some deleted sections of the book printed here for the first time. If you love early Stephen King, this is quite the bargain, and worthy of space on your bookshelf.

  • One of the more interesting authors in an admittedly mediocre age. Perhaps the best of his works.

When one has read such outstanding masters of the genre as M. R. James, Algernon Blackwood, Arthur Machen, Edith Wharton, HPL, etc., King is pretty thin stuff. He does frequently provide interesting general observations, the section of the two drunks getting to the city dump is certainly funny, and there is overall much pleasure to be derived from reading this (some very eerie moments, for instance), but there are many better authors of this type, some of them, even among modern writers, unjustly little known. Of the admittedly mere 3 King novels I read (the other two being The Shining and Pet Sematary), this is certainly the best, as the others were spun out unconscionably, too much stuff on little kids and other dull padding matter, so, personally, I would recommend anyone interested ...

  • I said it in many words above.

It's all good. Condition of dust jacket, hard cover, the book contents (no marks) the entire package was in great condition. As for the story, it is still creepy, scary; one you can't look away from but at the same time hard to put down. Did I mention this is my favorite horror story. I first read the book in 1975 and I still feel the same horror of the happenings in " 'Salem's Lot" The Shining is my #2 horror book and a scary movie. The best psychological (no blood) book/movie is the 60's movie "The Haunting of Hill House" by the author Shirley Jackson. This completes my favorite horror books and movies.

  • Salem's Lot (Illustrated Edition-Doubleday)-Hardbound

King has outdone himeself with this edition. This book not only brings you to Salem's Lot, it puts you there as one of the residents, illustrations, deleted scenes, and all!! The best description would be: This edition provides the clearest picture and brings today's younger generation of readers back to the 1970s when this book was conceived. It does away with the most common (fatal) mistake of all present day movie remakes-which is to "PUT AN OLD MOVIE INTO AN UPDATED TODAY VERSION." That is why the new Salem's Lot movie (starring Rob Lowe) pales in comparison to the original (starring David Soul)which gives the story its "bite!".Today's younger generation reader, for instance, would have a little trouble figuring out what a "Citroen" is, albeit David Soul's Jeep Renegade versus Rob ...

  • Wonderful Book

I love this book. I read 'Salem's Lot years ago and loved the story. I've wanted this version for years and finally have it. The illustrations are awesome. If you're a Stephen King fan and don't have this book, I highly recommend it.
