Anderson have dumbed down the Dune universe to a mere shadow of what it was under Herbert Senior. After a mildly interesting "Prelude to Dune" trilogy and a less than spectacular "Butlerian Jihad" trilogy, Brian Herbert and Kevin Anderson take on the task of finalizing the Dune saga which was left on a cliffhanger after Frank Herbert's death in 1986. This novel (and the following novel, "Sandworms of Dune") form a two part conclusion to the events following "Chapterhouse: Dune". While newer fans of Dune will no ... Returning characters from the classic series (Paul Atreides, Jessica, Thufir Hawat, Leto II, etc) are the equivilent of cardboard cutouts of their original selves, most of them having nothing of interest to do other than (barely) advance the plot in certain areas (and a number of them do not even do that). Retconned in so many areas that it nearly boggles the mind, "Hunters of Dune" will make older Dune enthusiasts wonder what exactly Brian Herbert and Kevin Anderson were shooting for here. Upon reaching the (perhaps not so surprising) "cliffhanger ending" of this novel, you may well find yourself asking what the point of it all is, and find the only readily available answer a blatant effort to mass market Dune to fans of the Matrix movie trilogy...

Great Book, Great Price
I love the Dune saga and was so excited to find a copy for so cheap. The book if definitely used but still in good shape - very readable.

The Hunters of Dune...
I read the entire DUNE series before buying this authored by the original author's son & a friend(?) The styles don't exactly mesh, but it was entertaining nonetheless. If you are a DUNE reader, you will probably like this one..;

Another great Dune story by Brian Herbert. Matches the father in story telling without so much deep philosophical rambling.
