LAY DOWN YOUR SOUL TO THE GODS ROCK N' ROLL!!!
It would be impossible for me to attempt to describe this near perfect record, but I'll give it a shot! Here's a run down of the tracks; 1.) Black Metal - 10/10! This is just an A+ track, and is Venom's calling card. This is an absolutely perfect metal song; it's heavy, fast, loud, and extremely blasphemous! 2.)To Hell and Back - 10/10! Another great track here! Talks about what a blast living in Hell is! This track is filled to the brim with Satanic themes. 3.) Buried Alive - 20/10! This is by far, my all time favorite Venom song! It's an absolutely creepy song, that begins with a priest's muffled voice, and a thumping noise. You soon find out that the thumping noise is dirt hitting the lid of a casket! This track really shows what Mantas can do on the guitar! Chock full of ass kicking riffs, thumping bass, awesome drum work, and evil vocals! 5.) Teacher's Pet - 10/10! This song is filthy! Filthy enough to make Ron Jeremy gag! If you don't believe me, give this song a listen, and pay attention to the lyrics! This shows that Venom has a sense of humor, no matter how sick it may be! 6.) Leave Me In Hell - 20/10! One of the best songs on the entire album, easily! An absolutely pumping anthem of a track! 7.) Sacrifice - 9/10! Not really a stand out track, but a great one nonetheless, and it definitely deserves a listen! 8.) Heaven's On Fire - 10/10! HELL YEAH! This is the Venom I know and love! Thick, nasty guitar riffs, thundering bass, and speedy drumming, along with some of the most blasphemous lyrics to ever pass a human's lips! AWESOME TRACK! 9.) Countess Bathory - 20/10! Another one of Venom's stand out tracks! It starts out with a chugging, chorus soaked guitar riff, and doesn't ever let up! I'm not sure, but I think Bathory may have taken their name from this song, and Bathory rules, so that just makes this track even better! 10.) Don't Burn The Witch - 50/10! This is THE defining song for Black Metal! Awesome guitar work, and equally great vocals! If you only listen to one track on this album, make it Don't Burn The Witch! Overall, this is just an incredible offering, from one of the greatest metal bands to ever grace the face of the earth. Sure, the production may be bad, and the music itself might not be at all complicated; but therein lies the beauty of Black Metal! This record is pure atmosphere! If you don't own this album, then you can't call yourself an extreme metal fan! But be warned, Venom's music is not for the faint of heart, or for posers! Well, enough of my babbling. Go and buy this record NOW!

A CLASSIC, AND VENOM'S FINEST MOMENT.
***WARNING- I am a long time fan of this band so my opinion WILL be biased*** I bought the original album(NEAT), then on cassette(COMBAT), then on CD(COMBAT).....this is the re-issued version on SANCTUARY. The slipcase is awesome, and really does the packaging nice, just like the original album cover! SOUND: I don't hear much difference from the earlier versions, except the volume is louder here....yeah! SONGS: This is a classic album, and Venom's best. Every metal fan who does not have this in their collection should be slapped silly....EVERY SONG KICKS ASS! BONUS TRACKS: Worth having...singles that didn't appear on albums are all here. Hail VENOM!
I was pretty familiar with Venom back in the day as a teen. My friend Dan, downloaded the "Black Metal" track, and I loved it! It reminded me of the old Metallica (1983-91). I loved the evil stuff, but I also loved "Teacher's Pet"!

THIS IS A GREAT CD. IT IS NOT FOR EVERYONE BUT IF YOU ENJOY OLD SCHOOL METAL SUCH AS MORTORHEAD, CARNIVORE AND PENTAGRAM YOU WILL LIKE IT. I GIVE IT 4 STARS.
