    Absolutely the Best Simple Pocket Calculator

    Although it was made many, many years ago, this calculator (Casio SL100S) is the best, most rugged, and most reliable 8-digit pocket calculator that I've ever used. The display numbers are large and bright. Its size is perfect for my pants or shirt pocket. It folds in half with the screen and keyboard well protected from damage. I highly recommend that you buy one ... and perhaps a spare ... in case you lose one.

    Casio SL-100L Calculator

    This is the second SL-100L I've bought for my wife. The first lasted over 10 years and I was surprised to find this model still available when I researched a replacement for the first SL-100L. This unit is compact, yet the display is quite readable. The clam-shell design provides protection when placed in pocket or purse - hence the 10 year life of the predecessor. This model provides what my wife requires: quick access to basic math functions, familiar user interface, convenient form factor and overall reliability.

    Good Basic Calculator

    This is my third calculator like this. I use it in work for basic stuff because it is compact, has a good size display, and folds like a clamshell. I purchased 7 of these two years ago as Christmas gifts for my coworkers and they liked it as well. The clamshell design protects the display from getting smashed. The only thing I don't like about this calculator is having to replace the battery. That process is NOT straight forward and it is easy to lose the tiny screws, the little plastic piece in the upper latch, and the calculator can be damaged if you aren't careful. WalMart used to sell these for $4.95. I see people selling these on eBay for close to $30-RIDICULOUS!!

    All-time favorite.

    There are a lot of choices for calculators out there. I like this particular one becauseI:folds and doesn’t take up a lot of space in my pocket; it has large numbers and us easy to read; it’s “dual-powered...solar if there’s enough light, battery when there isn’t enough light; it has the functions I need (like a fully addressable memory) and it doesn’t have a lot of the more complex trigonometric functions, which I never need. If I could design a custom-built calculator, it would function like this, but I’d have it custom painted metal-flake blue.

    Compact machine with all the functions a layman needs for basic calculation

    Advantages-Very simple to use (basic calculations),compact when folded and lightweight to carry,easy to read numbers,solar powered ability is good as well,a neat little unit. Disadvantages-When battery needs replacing,has to be taken to a dealer and comes with no instructions to use all the functions available (if one understands all the keys well and good,I didn't).
