À propos de ce produit

Product Information

Hostile aliens and claustrophobia rule the day in Dead Space, a survival horror game in the vein of the classic film Alien. Dead Space takes place in the distant future when Earth's lust for raw materials has extended deep into the galaxy, and giant ships roam the cosmos mining planets for resources. Gamers climb into the spacesuit of systems engineer Isaac Clarke, sent with a team of investigators to the massive USG <I>Ishimura</I> to determine why communications have gone dead. Once aboard, Clarke discovers that the more than 1,000 crewmembers, including his love interest Nicole, all seem to be missing, dead, or transformed into hideous alien mutants. To make matters worse, Clarke's transport ship is destroyed, his fellow investigators are slaughtered, and he is forced to scramble through the <I>Ishimura</I>'s labyrinthine corridors weaponless and alone.<br><br>The game's action takes place from a third-person perspective, and the narrative is revealed in classic survival horror fashion through messages scrawled in blood, the dying utterances of mortally wounded crewmembers, and any discarded logs or journals players may stumble upon. Gamers can loot corpses for credits which can then be used in the ship's many automated vending machines to purchase weapons, upgrade Clarke's space suit, and gain access to restricted areas. Much of the ship's interior has been damaged and thus lacks oxygen or gravity, creating a number of environmental puzzles, and making choices regarding upgrades exceedingly important -- powerful weapons offer little solace to a player devoid of oxygen. However, choosing the correct weaponry is also crucial, because the creatures that dwell within the <I>Ishimura</i> are terrifyingly powerful, and unlike most games, the action in Dead Space doesn't pause while players check their journal, change weapons, or reload.

  • Not Broken for PC After All

I was skeptical about the first few reviews on this console port when it came out last October; I held off playing this great game because of it. There were numerous reports of this title being "broken" and almost unplayable/unfit for PC systems. While it's true that it is just another port of a console-optimized game, I was pleased at how easy it was to play on my computer. The controls did take a little getting used to, but once I got the hang of it I had a blast playing the game! The graphics are crisp and clean, the sound is amazing and the atmosphere is real spooky and lifeless. I love it! My only real complaint is that using the keyboard for a lot of the commands gets a bit tedious; the mouse aiming is a little slow in Aim mode, but not too bad. Overall, I see the game as being very ...

  • A Plethora of Unique Gameplay

Dead Space is an engaging third person shooter that has very unique game controls. I liked that health stats, inventory, and etc were integrated into the game and not simply on a pop up menu. However, game play did take awhile to get used to (I kept wanting to look around the character). Playing on medium difficulty is actually quite challenging. Enemies are intuitive and SCARY. This game continually made me jump in suspense (but then again I am "jumpy"). The story was captivating and not redundant or cliche. The graphics were smooth and detailed--great game.

  • Excellent game!

Everything about this game is five star quality. The storyline is solid, the graphics are realistic and detailed and the soundtrack/effects are full and rich. I love games in the horror genre and this one rated one of the best I've played. I played it on my rig I built 5 years ago. Asus P4G 800-V MB, P4 2.6 CPU, 2 GB memory 120GB HD, Sapphire Radeon X 1650 pro, Samsung Syncmaster T190 widescreen monitor and creative 2.1 spreakers with onboard sound. I just met the minimum requirements aside from the CPU, which required a 2.8 P4. The game requires a lot of power to play well. I had to turn off all effects and shaders and also had to turn off all programs, such as Zone Alarm, running in the background. But even with everything off, the game looked great and played decently. The only negative ...

  • Dead Space is a thrill ride that must be experienced

Graphics: Breathtaking 9/10 The graphics are make you look twice – you feel as if you are on the ship with Isaac, and even in deep space. Though the levels look similar, you will see the immediate beauty of this game. It is a difficult thing to be consistent, yet differentiate enough to create an entire ship. Sound: Amazing – 9.5/10 The sounds, music, effects, and voices take you immediately into the game. Surround sound is a must so you can hear the uttering, chanting, and footsteps of the habitants of this game. A lot of time, and thought, went into putting in effective music, parts with no music, and the fell of being utterly alone. The best, yet simplistic feeling is when you go into space for the first time, and all you hear is your own breath and heartbeat. Gameplay: Spectacular ...

  • Re:Turn off the lights, Plug in the headphones, turn them up, and get ready

This game is one of the best Games I have played in a long time. As stated in one of my other reviews here on e bay(my left4dead 2 Review), I am very picky about what I will play, and what I will not play. Upon firing up the game first time, I went straight for the hard core mode. Let me tell you, if you're not use to playing hard core levels in games, I would not recommend you do so in this game, as a lot of concentration, planning, etc are involved in this. The only "flaw" in this, are the controls. This is a third person shooter, and if you're not use to playing First Person/Third Person shooters, you can go into you're settings like I did, and adjust them to your liking. This game also has no cheats, from what I know. I haven't played the sequel yet, so I do not know if there is cheats ...
