grand theft auto + sim city = godfather 2
The original Godfather game is one of my favorite open world titles of all time so the announcement of the godfather 2 was very exciting for me. story : The game takes place over the course of the film and weaves between the story of our man character " Dominic" and the story of the Corleone family. The story isn't spectacular but it gets the job done and does a surprisingly decent job of building up to the climax. where most games just create a relationship and force you to " feel " it, the Godfather 2 actually takes time to help immerse you in the world and get you acquainted with the characters. Gameplay: the godfather2 essential uses two very different forms of gameplay that work together well. One is a traditional 3rd person shooter view, you will kick down doors , invade enemy ... Gameplay: the godfather2 essential uses two very different forms of gameplay that work together well. One is a traditional 3rd person shooter view, you will kick down doors , invade enemy businesses & rackets , and interrogate shop owners all from this perspective yourself. The second form of gameplay uses the " Don view" it's basically a 3d map showing off the cities and the numerous rackets and businesses around them. whereas you do everything in person for the 3rd person view, in Don view you can orchestrate attacks, mark rival family members for death, look for numerous events or favors , see businesses you are attacking or that are under attack and so on. the dons view portion of the game lends itself to tons of strategy, you can control the number of guards protecting your businesses but have to balance their collective pay against your daily income , you can make your made-men attack rival family businesses, and by taking over entire crime rings ( owning all the brothels , drug - producing facilities , car theft rings, etc.) you can actually gain bonuses to be used on yourself, made-men , and guards. However anything you can do , the rival families can as well. so if you are having a hared time killing enemy families because they all have bullet-proof armor, you can take that bonus away from them by attacking the local Diamond supplier. The enemy families even attack eachother, so sometimes it's a good time to show up after the two families have fought and clean up the rest of the mess. I feel like truly the two gameplay styles compliment each other perfectly. on one hand I felt like a badass myself because I could go around town and take over businesses, on the other hand i felt just as cool when I organized simulatenous attacks or sent my made-men into a place to "soften it up", only to bring in the rest of my men and myself to help them later on. Audio / visual Visually the Godfather 2 is not a pretty game, it isn't absolutely horrible but the textures and character animations all seem like they are worst than the original godfather game. with that said the sound quality is amazing. I found myself turning down the t.v. as low as I could because when taking over a rival families business it would sound like a warzone. every gunshot and explosion sounds convincing, and you will definitely jump int oa car and sped away from crime scenes as fast as you can as you hear the approaching police sirens grow louder and louder. multiplayer: the multiplayer for the godfather 2 is fun and serves as a way to upgrade your made-mens weaponry. While the online is still active, it is a very simple set of games. Deathmatch dominates the playlist but if you like the gunplay it can be tons of fun. with that said though I recommend staying away from the multiplayer until you have gained level 2 weapons and made-men that can use them.

Awesome old-school Gangster Game! at the right price!
My desision for the purchase of Godfather 2 was simple, its a great 1st person rpg. the violence can be an issue for the younger crowd but unlike most other popular titles there are no drugs in the game. (some other games you act as a drug dealer) also there is no sexual content in the game just some suggestions towards i.e. you cannot "make love" to a prostitute in GF2 you may talk with her and get a reaction maybe even some advice. the game takes place in multiple locations i.e. NY and Florida. Missed it's mark
I loved the first Godfather on XBOX 360; expansive world, good number of variables, easy to use controls, and days if not weeks of entertainment. This is unfortunately the first EA game I've owned that has really missed it's mark. It looks like the developers spent way too much time working on making the interactive map 3D, and on building the story. What got left out was the expansiveness and intrigue that the first game captured so well. They also went way off script from the original story, which is fine, however nothing really ties at the end with this. Too easy to knock off the rival families, several of whom you learn little if anything about. The weapons were not quite as cool, and the car controls were adequate, but barely. fun but short and uninspired GTA clone
The Godfather II is the product of what happens when you have a big time game publisher imitate success in the pursuit of the almighty dollar. In other words, the game is a Grand Theft Auto clone. The Godfather II is remarkably limited as a game. The vast majority of what the player is tasked with is a few story missions sprinkled between mostly expanding your empire by taking over businesses while rival families push back. Eventually you defeat rival families by penetrating and destroying their stronghold. Outside of that there's nothing else but unnecessary mini-quests for favors or tips on how to kill rival made men. Despite that, The Godfather II's control is solid. The game is easy and simple to play and it can be fun. But the game is very short and the areas the game takes place in ...
