Canon EOS-A2 Camera. It
This is an extremely versatile camera. It features multizone focus, and multi mode metering (even includes spot meter option). It has dof preview so that one can estimate bokeh and depth of field. Overall, it is a good camera. One problem with EOS-A2 cameras. The mode selector wheel is very stiff. And, it breaks on some cameras. Except for this problem, I would have given the camera an Excellent rating. Ask about this before purchasing an A2. Takes great photos. Canon EOS A2
I was looking for a more advanced EOS body to mount some manual M42 lenses on and stumbled on the A2 after comparing specs with several other models on the Canon Museum website. Unfortunately I found out later that the A2 is one of a few EOS models that don't do manual very well. But having invested only $18 plus shipping in it, I wasn't feeling too bad and decided to see if I could still get some use out of it with standard EF lenses. I slapped on a cheap Tamron 28-80 zoom from my wife's old Rebel G2 and went out for a test run and came back happy enough to invest in a decent Canon EF 35-105 which makes this a really nice combo for about $100 total. I kind of like the size and feel of this model which suggests a 7D but without all the digital gadgetry and extra money. I haven't spent ... I haven't spent much time with the manual learning all the features but like to keep things simple anyway, shooting mainly in AE mode and taking advantage of the fast AF for quick shots on the run. Canon EOS A2 Film camera
This is a great light weight camera. I use it as a back/up to my Nikon F4 It takes some great pictures. There are a good number of accessories and lenses made for this camera whitch makes it nice. I would recomend it for a back/up or for someone who is starting out because of the ease of setting it up and the auto options it has. It has a fast auto focus and using the corect lens you will get great pictures.I have to say in my opinion it doesn't compare to the Nikon F4 and Canon in general has a holdback in the different lens moutning . But then this is an opinion and you know what they say about opinions.This is a great light weight camera. I use it as a back/up to my Nikon F4 It takes some great pictures. Great Travel SLR
I took my A2E on a getaway weekend to the coast and to me it proved to be the perfect camera for the job. I normally use an EOS-1N but I took the A2E instead because it is smaller, lighter and has a built in flash. The A2E (as well as the A2 and EOS0-5) were introduced just before the 1N and shares many of its features like, 5 point auto focus system, 1/8000 top shutter speed and mirror lock-up. Unlike the 1N the A2E has a built in flash, 5 frame per second shooting speed and is much more quiet and offers eye controlled focus, but there is a trade off. The A2E lacks the 1N's weather proofing and manual metering. Due to a licensing issue instead of a metering scale you get either a "+" or a "-" so you know whether you are under or over exposing but not by how much (the EOS-5, which is ... Canon semi-pro EOS A2E camera
I didn't know what to expect when I won this EOS A2E camera. The Ebay seller advertised it as "Canon's finest film AF camera". After receiving the camera, setting it up, reading the instruction manual which I downloaded on line, and simply becoming familiar with the camera, I have to agree. Some cameras are "Intuitive" to use. That describes this feature rich Canon EOS A2E. So many of Nikon AF Pro or Semi Pro, or "F" Series cameras have given over to highly complex operations, calculations, and mulitple button pushing that the cameras "get in the way of" the picture taking. After all , the simplest cameras, the one that lets you take pictures and doesn't disturb you, that remain masterpieces of simplicity even though they are highly ... The Canon does all this. Don't let "simplicity" fool you. This is one professional level AF camera with "Eye Focus, start up", programmed modes, easy to read control board, wide angle viewfinder with diopter adjustment, multi-mode action, and a decent weight and heft. If I had any criticism at all , it would be that the camera is almost too large. It feels good in your hand especially with the Vertical Grip accessory which is keenly engineered and well laid out. The camera is "simple" yet complex, and best yet......it is fun to use. I recommend this camera for serious AF film camera users over the Nikon F90 which has earned its stripes as a durable professional AF camera. The Canon wins in the engineering department, and the human engineering department. While this is not a camera you can learn overnight, or stick in your pocket for a quick street shoot type of day, it is a camera that gets out of your way and lets you do what you set out to do, and that is take photographs. Happy Picture taking. Buy a Canon A2E. You won't be disappointed.
