There's a Corn Nut in the Fields-Wish it Was BBQ Flavor
Based on a short story by Stephen King, Children of the Corn is about kids who worship an evil god who lives in the cornfield. Thing is that after a certain age the worshippers have to be sacrificed to their god - kinda like Menudo, once you reach 17 you are out! Since the god has a Michael Jackson complex and does not like adults he orders the kids to kill them all. A little time later comes a couple traveling cross country. Of course they are lost and of course they stumble upon the kids. Actually one kid who is trying to escape - and that will not do! So the couple goes to town and they find little kids who actually want to leave but they can't. The couple is found by the more zealot of the group and offered as sacrifice to the corn dweller. Once things get supernatural I usually loose interest and the cornut in the fields was a bit much for me. The whole story about the kids killing the adults and the creepiness of the town was great. The actual scene were the kids do the deed is a great piece of slasher heaven. This is a good one from the 80's with Linda Hamilton and Peter Horton.

A special 'B' horror movie
The only reason I bought this movie is because I was in it. I was an extra during the Blue Man scene where the Leader of the children was giving a speech in the corn field in front of a post with the skeletal remains of a cop. In 1983 my K-12 school, in the town of Whiting Iowa, was asked if they would be interested in helping to make a Stephen King horror picture. I remember our principal interrupting lunch to tell us about it. If we were interested we had to get permission from our parents and show up to school in ratty clothes. The school would get $2500 and we got a day off school! A win-win deal! That day we all lined up in front of the school near a bus where the director (who was the brother of David Hasselhoff of Knight Rider fame) picked out the kids he wanted as extras. ... Me and my two younger brothers were picked among the other 15 or so kids picked. They loaded us into a school bus and drove to the film site. They herded us to an open area in a rented out corn field and gave some of us rubber weapons. We then sat in a semi circle and were given our one line in the movie; "Blue man, blue man, down with the blue man." I never saw Linda Hamilton but I did see actors who played Isaac and Malici. The actor who played Isaac was very impressive as an actor. He knew his lines like the back of his hand and could pick up from any point the director asked him without even thinking about it. I remember being one impressed 16 year old! The Malici actor, I thought, was a jerk who looked down on us extras and would give anyone the courtesy of acknowledging a greeting. Looking back I guess I could say he was trying to stay in character but at the time I didn't much care for him. When the movie was released in 1984 the local theaters were packed. Everyone was anxious to see the Stephen King movie with the familiar backdrop of the people and places in our home towns. Unfortunately the movie wasn't of the caliber expected of a Stephen King movie and became something of a joke with the campy plot line, bad acting and the dead kid on the road that kept moving with each camera shot! I own the movie because me and my two brothers and some old High school friends were in it. The main street scene with the Flag pole is the main street of my home town as well as many other shots in the movie. I own this movie because of memories; the move it self is only mildly entertaining.

A true horror classic!
I have always loved this movie and the sequels to it... A true horror classic by Stephen king!

Awesome Stephen King movie I first saw it when I was 11 years young. My sister said she just saw a good movie told me to come over to watch it.
