Product Information

The sequel to 2009's anime-flavored fighting game, BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift introduces three new characters, added play options, more stages, and other refinements. Those new to the series can acclimate themselves to the combo-centric controls with the beginner and tutorial modes, while BlazBlue veterans can attempt to achieve character-specific objectives in the challenge mode. In the legion mode, an army of characters can be enlisted to reclaim enemy-controlled territories on a map. Four environments have been added to the existing locales from the first game, along with seven new music tracks from composer Diasuke Ishiwatari. Characters include the female knight Tsubaki, a mastermind known as Hazama, and an alluring armored female named mu-12. Challenge other players from around the world, chat with friends, or simply observe matches to learn new techniques via Xbox Live or PlayStation Network.

What Calamity Trigger originally should of been.
BlazBlue: Continuum Shift is the refresh of last year's Calamity Trigger version, featuring new characters, revamping of the fighting system and a new continued story mode and great new console only additions. There supposedly will be another arcade update later in the year which brings in the console only characters (which are paid DLC add-ons) and further character rebalancing. Pros: + New unique characters with three more available through DLC + Story mode is a great single player experience with a more established story than typical fighting games + New tutorial and challenge modes to help new players learn and improve. Better experience than Calamity Trigger. Cons: - Not much graphical improvements when compared to Calamity Trigger - Steep learning curve for beginners without ... BlazBlue: Continuum Shift is a great refresh of last year's Calamity Trigger Additional characters, rebalanced gameplay and new additions to the console versions give it a fresh coat of paint but at the core of it the battle system is unique and offers an alternative fighting game to the Tekken and Street Fighter games currently on the market. There is quite a steep learning curve and players without a background to Calamity Trigger or Guilty Gear games from the PS2 days will most like likely be lost on what is happening since Street Fighter skills don't translate well here.

An overpriced patch with not enough fixes
Before I start let me say I loved Blazblue Calamity Trigger, it was one of the best fighters of the year without a doubt As time went by though there became serious problems with the gameplay and it's balance, it needed a patch badly to fix the unfair characters the rules the online play Then they release Blazblue continuum shift, and fail miserably Characters that were problems such as nu and arakune have been tonned down, but way too tonned down to the point of almost trash unless you're a really experienced player then maybe you can get by, thus making any new players wanting to pick them not likely, others have been tonned down as well but sadly a few weren't, characters like litchi and bang were left not only untouched, but made better this ends up making the gameplay more unbalanced ... Before I start let me say I loved Blazblue Calamity Trigger, it was one of the best fighters of the year without a doubt As time went by though there became serious problems with the gameplay and it's balance, it needed a patch badly to fix the unfair characters the rules the online play Then they release Blazblue continuum shift, and fail miserably Characters that were problems such as nu and arakune have been tonned down, but way too tonned down to the point of almost trash unless you're a really experienced player then maybe you can get by, thus making any new players wanting to pick them not likely, others have been tonned down as well but sadly a few weren't, characters like litchi and bang were left not only untouched, but made better this ends up making the gameplay more unbalanced and unfair for players than it did when we left calamity trigger Other problems is the overpriced game, $40 at first glance looks cheap for a new ps3 game, and infact if you have never played calamity trigger then this is a goood price for you, but for a "new sequel" there hardly isn't anything new the main new things are tutorials for players getting started into the game for the first time which isn't much to those that have already played and a poorly written continued story from the last game hardly much new especially when there aren't many that care about the story unless you're a hardcore anime fan there are also only 3 new characters, not that they're bad but for a $40 price tagg, moving from calamity trigger to continuum shift isn't a price worth bargaining for, there are otehr new characters but each will cost you $8 a pop for 1 character so each new one will cost you 1/5 of what you bought the whole game for, there are also umlimited versions of characters that are new but almost impossible to unlock as you have to beat score attakc mode with each one of them to get it (which is REALLY HARD) or you could pay for them online, they're cheap but for a new $40 the things should have been free and already in the game If you noticed the pattern Aksys is overcharginy ou for DLC for thigns that should have come with the game to begin with like more colors, more characters (these characters were obviously in porduction and probably ready by the games release, they just wanted to squeeze every last penny out of you that they could)extra vioces?, and ulimited modes that are almost imposible to unlock normally all in all this is just a release full of cheap tricks to make Aksys Games get every last penny out of you that they can all the content on this game could have easily been turned into a $25 DLC turned around into a $40 game, and still they want to overcharge you with other DLC after you bought the whole new game If you don't have Calamity trigger, then you could give this a try, I suggest a rental before buying becuase the gameplay is intense and the unbalanced characters online can drive you insane, or if you never plan to be a type of person to play online or only play with a select group of friends you could also give this a try For anyone else, especially those that bought and loved calamity trigger, this is nothing but an overpriced patch being sold to you as a whole new game full of dissapointment

blazeblue: continuum shift
folks who love good old hand drawn sprites in their fighters will like this street fighter alternative. the latest iteration brings more modes, charachters and extra balancing. but overall a great game to play.

An amazing fighting adventure game in 2D with colorfull graphics, envolving story, great characters and a lot of options, if you like anime and fighting games, this game is for you.

Excellent Fighting game, and anime title
This game has a great story. Can be a little difficult to get combos down and a little frustrating to fight unlimited characters, but is still fun.
