Featuring plucky Dakota Fanning as the catalyst behind an injured horse's comeback attempt to win the prized Breeder's Cup, DREAMER recalls Walt Disney's family-friendly films from another era, such as THE COMPUTER WORE TENNIS SHOES and THAT DARN CAT! Sonador, nicknamed Sonya, is a great horse owned by a small man, who after a severe injury gives the horse to trainer Ben Crane (Kurt Russell). Once a great trainer, Ben has become a shell of his former self, suffering both professional and personal strife, including a rocky relationship with his father (Kris Kristofferson). It seems that both Sonya and Ben are headed for the end of their careers, unless Ben's daughter Cale (Fanning) can provide them with enough faith in their abilities to heal their wounds and bring them to victory.DREAMER takes its inspiration from the true story of the horse Mariah's Storm, a favorite for the 1993 Breeder's Cup until she suffered what would normally be a career-ending injury. However, her owners and trainers persevered, and the horse went on to win a number of significant races, including an upset at the 1995 Breeder's Cup. A moving score by composer John Debney (SPY KIDS, THE PRINCESS DIARIES) enhances the drama and creates a lasting impression, making this a certain family classic.

    Great movie and great price!

    I bought this movie because I love it and they had it for an awesome price (even though it was used, which I was skeptical about) but I have had no issues with the actual movie performance. The only thing is it says it is "full screen" and it is clearly "widescreen" when u

    Entertaining to the End

    This movie was good enough that after having only seen it 1 time well over a year ago, I kept remembering it. I love Dakota Fanning. And she never lets us down, this movie was no exception. The movie carries you along wonderfully. There was never a moment of "just get on with it". It is a great movie for the whole family. There are no cuss words and no inappropriate scenes. I would recommend this movie to any person, family or stanger. I love it so much, I've only had it a month and I've loaned it to three different families (but I had to be selfish and watch it myself first). You won't be let down by this movie!

    Dakota Fanning all the way

    I love this movie! Dakota Fanning does a great job as the lead character Kale. Based on a true story, this movie will warm your heart, and possibly even elicit a tear or two. Being such an animal lover, my eyes teared up when the horse fell. But don't worry, it's a great movie dispite that. It makes me wonder, do horses really eat popcicles?

    Dreamer

    I was over at someone's home while they watched this movie. I totaly fell in love with it. The little girl (Dakota Fanning) that plays Cale, was an inspiration to anyone (both children and adults of all ages) to don't ever let your dreams go! Hold onto them and they CAN happen! She also taught a wonderful lesson about family, how they can be there for you in the worst of times to support you! This one I had to buy! It's one you can watch over and over again, especially when and if you're feeling down, this movie will lift your spirits up and you'll be feeling good inside!

    Top Notch family entertainment! Great acting throughout

    I saw this movie in the theater and finally got around to buying a copy for myself. This is a great movie that the whole family will enjoy. Perfect for all ages. There are great performances by Kurt Russell, Elizabeth Shue, Kris Kristoferson, Dakota Fanning, and David Morse. I would recommend this movie to anyone whether they are a horse enthusiast or not. It's too bad Hollywood doesn't put out more family oriented and entertaining movies like this one.
