This unit has all the features that you'd look for in a PDA. Getting them to work, Ha!!! you want that too; aren’t you picky. First the GPS takes longer than forever to acquire satellites from cold start. It is not uncommon to sit in an open field for 15 minutes and still not have acquired the satellites Second, the battery life is worse than terrible and that is not only because the battery does not have the capacity but also because of software glitches that causes the PDA to turn on and drain the battery thus when needed you have a dead PDA and you have to re-boot. Third, The Mio Map V3.2 directions are not always the best. Forth, If for any reason you need to reinstall Mio map;...; Good luck because of software theft issues you won’t be able to re-install your own software back on the ... Buy it guys !!!! It's the best in navigation.
I bough it at a very low price because was refurbished from the factory. It is working excelent and I am very satisfied about it. You can install any navigation software wich you like. I have installed the iGO8 and MIO Map and is working better than any Garmin or Tom Tom systems. In iGO8 I installed the 3D map and it's amazing. These systems are more used in europe. US dont know too much about them but they sould learn up. Has a very quick connection to the satelites and a very good acuracy. The only problem wich I dont like to it is that is very hard to connect WiFi LAN. Windows must solve this soft problem because also in the old versions of windows mobile the same problem exists. I bough it specialy for GPS so I am not so worry about that connection. I recomend this item to all the ... I bough it at a very low price because was refurbished from the factory. Best GPS ever especially in Europe, Asia & Middle east
I bought 5 of them for my family and friends and they are the best GPS out there. They work fine in US except the outdate MS. They are excellent in Europe, Asia, and Middle east. Those Gps work like a pro finding the satellite and all the other great features. I had other GPS and they don't even come close as good as the Mio GPS. Stop reading and doubting and get one now if you are planning a trip soon. You won't be disappointed.I bought 5 of them for my family and friends and they are the best GPS out there. Mio P550 is a great PDA for its price
I've been using Mio P550 with iGO8. It works fine and still has great PDA features. I install some nice apps, including one to download torrents.

In theory this is a great item - if you can get it to work. I have had mine for almost 2 months and have had issues with it connecting to the satellite, losing data, when it did connect with a satellite it would randomly plug locations in my driving directions while I was driving, and it has maps that are at least 4 years old. The "customer service" from Mio is non-existant - I have attempted to get assistance with the issues and have been waiting for someone to answer/on hold for over 8 hours. I would STRONGLY RECOMEND that you look at a different unit for your own sanity.In theory this is a great item - if you can get it to work.
