The patient's stay at the ruins of an Italian monastery under the care of an emotionally injured French-Canadian nurse (Juliette Binoche, who won an Oscar for the role) serves as a framing device for his intriguing story. Great value with o.k. features
This is a barebones version of "The English Patient". A good value if you just want the story. No real special features and it's a pretty good value if you're trying to save a few $$$. The story itself is a heartbreaking one in which Fiennes plays Count Almásy who is dying due to a plane crash in the 1930's. Under the care of a young nurse (Binoche. who won an Oscar) who is dealing with her own grief, his story unfolds about his affair with married Katharine Clifton (Thomas) and how their affair would result in tragic circumstances. Epic and visual, it is a tearjerker (Although some may think it's sappy and a long film).This is a barebones version of "The English Patient". A good value if you just want the story. The English Patient
The movie starts out a bit slow and has a good deal of unsettling scenes, but it is about war and death and not being able to have what you want, so that would be logical. The acting is very good as is the scenery and interacting between cast members (the story doesn't overwhelm the character interaction). This isn't really a feel good movie with a happy ending, so you will be left with a sort of vacant feeling. Not a good film to watch if you are easily depressed. The English Patient oldie but goodie
Not a movie for everyone but I love it! The characters pull you in and keep you fascinated.

This DVD is in excellent condition. I had this DVD before but it was defective and would skip over scenes. So happy of this replacement.
