5100 Bilsteins fixed my new Tundra.
I did as much research as possible, and ended up going with the Bilstein name on my 2014 Tundra. I chose the 5100 series so I could lift the nose of the truck at the same time I was adding the upgrade shocks. However, these shocks are the lift as well, for one price. (These are adjustable height shocks) Keep in mind that if you choose the wrong height and need to change it, you get to pay for the entire shock install again, and it isn't remotely cheap. I was considering also adding a rear anti-sway bar to my truck. These shocks firmed up the ride while still giving a soft feel. The unexpected bonus is that these Bilstein 5100s also eliminated some of the front end roll in the corners, to the point that I probably won't need the rear anti-sway bar now. Funny how the front end ... I did as much research as possible, and ended up going with the Bilstein name on my 2014 Tundra. Funny how the front end treatment seemed to affect the rear issue as well. I might end up leaving the factory shocks on the rear as well, unless I decide I want to lift the rear too. I think these shocks live up to the hype. They are an upgrade over factory shocks, even the factory Bilsteins you might find on the TRD model Tundra. These shocks are the best choice for giving you the most options and adjustability for the money. I only lifted mine the smallest amount (I think a half inch or 3/4) but it still requires a front end alignment. Drives great now. Also the best tire for me ended up being the Cooper AT3 white letter for quiet and soft ride with satisfactory grip. I do not intentionally offroad my truck despite the four wheel drive. In summary, On a 2014 Tundra, these are the best improvement for ride and handling I can imagine for the money. It is like a different vehicle and all the differences are positive. It s hard to imagine that changing just the front shocks on a brand new truck could take a fatiguing ride-experience and turn it into a joy to drive. These Bilstein 5100 shocks did just that. Something I did notice is if you're running a 6 inch fabtech lift, the bottom mount of the strut is narrower than the oem strut. When the strut exrension is tightened, it will bend the extension inwards. Keeping an eye on that for now. What a dramatic improvement in the ride!! Can't feel the road imperfections at all!! Tundra LB's & Bilsteins
Tundra LB's ride smooth. 5100's stiffen that somewhat, yet if you are yankin' a 8,000 lb. RV, up & down the Rocky Mtns.,.....just what you need. Can feel them work on tight curves. Hint-- The REARs are Bilstein, from the factory! El Paladin
