À propos de ce produit

Product Information

The most popular PC game of the early '90s finally makes its way to the Sega Saturn. As the title commonly referred to as the first great first-person shooter, Doom was the second offering by a newly formed team at ID Software headed by John Romero and John Carmack after they successful broke new ground with the Nazi first-person shooter Wolfenstein 3D.

Doom on the Saturn not only features the original, but also Ultimate Doom and Doom II: Hell on Earth all rolled onto the one CD. That means that there are over 55 levels of brutal, hi-octane, gut-spilling action to be had. The story follows the life of a space marine (that's you!) who is sent to follow up on a distress call from Phobos, something to the like of "Something freakin' seriously evil is coming out of the gateways. Computer systems have gone berserk."

While you may start with only a humble pistol, you will soon acquire a weapon arsenal that would make many of the world's armies blush in response. Chainsaws, shotguns, chainguns, rocket launchers, plasma rifles, and the devastating BFG 9000 are all at your disposal with the later two packing an indescribable punch. Other items that can be collected include various pieces of ammo, armor, healing goodies such as medikits and stimpacks, as well as other useful items, such as invulnerability, artifacts, and spheres.

Unfortunately, you're up against some of the scariest and most deadly hell-spawned creatures your ever likely to witness. From the former human souls who patrol the base with pistols, shotguns, and chainguns -- imps, demons, specters, lost souls, hell knights, barons of hell, and various other nasties will attempt to make your time in the base difficult to say the least. More detailed enemies include the Cyber Demon, a huge mechanical hell-knight with a missile-launcher attached as an arm; Spider Mastermind, a brain sitting on top of a pair of mechanical legs with a super-chaingun mounted on his abdominal area for good relations; and Mancubus, a fireball-firing, overweight demon who may look like a wide target but will still blow you away if you're not careful.

  • What Happenend???

If you have another console that has a version of Doom on it,you'd probably be off with that systems version it. This game has to have the worst framerate of all other Doom games(runs around 25 Frames per Second). The game is very choppy the whole time. The Sega Saturn's version of Doom removed all of the lighting effects, all multi-player modes, and some of the ambient music tracks causing the music to loop more often. The controls are bad,not unplayable, but bad. Now for some of the positive things about the game. The game has both Ulitmate Doom and Doom II,so you have over 60 levels of carnage(if you can get past the slow framerate and bad controls). The 4 different difficulty levels feel really balanced(easy mode is just that and the hardest mode will make you pull your hair out).If your like ...

  • Sega Saturn Doom- Fair port

Doom, one of my favorite games of all time and the Saturn, one of the most underrated systems ever coming together was quite cool. Controls 5/5- Customizable controls for every button Graphics 5/5- Looks somewhat better than playstation and all textures are present, lighting is OK. Sound 5/5- Has the Playstation's soundtrack and unlike the jaguar port, the sound pitch is correct. Gameplay 3/5- Framerate was low at times, but never unplayable. The Spectre enemy is not anywhere to be found however. People say the framerate is bad, but it is no more than is you were to play doom on a 386 w/ win95 Overall 4/5- Satisfying to play and not at all disappointing, but I really wish that GT took more time to optimize the port.

  • Doom for Sega Saturn

A game from the "Golden Age" of video gaming. Doom was one of those games that made your spine tingle and generally freaked you out. A game from one of the best franchises in video gaming history. Released on the Sega Saturn Doom is a must have for any enthusiast or collector. I played this game when it came out on the Saturn and now ten years later, it is just as fun to play. Graphics are not everything, when the gameplay and atmosphere in a game is as good as Doom!!

  • Great game at a great price.

very good port of the classic p.c. game. more levels and better quality than the super nintendo or 32x editions. Would Recommend. Also Comes with doom 2.

  • What The?

Graphics: Not great at all.. Overall: If you can get by the graphics. Than buy it. The Sega Saturn is my favorite system. If you don't have one buy one. Some great fps are- Duke Nukem 3d, Doom, Powerslave, Alien Trilogy, Hexen, Quake, Space Hulk, Congo, ect.
