Not your average double feature dvd...
For starters I bought this set because here in the UK it's near impossible to find Halloween 3 uncut & Halloween 2 is very hard to find uncut or otherwise! The only letdown was the total lack of bonus features. Also I could design a better sleeve on my pc (and probably will. Something with pumpkins. lol)! So was this a waste of money? Not really. I still have two classic horror films that aren't easy to locate in my country. And despite the no frills approach it is what I could call a box set rather than a double feature. Each movie is on it's own disc rather than putting both films on one. And the discs are prettier than the sleeve at least. I FOUND THESE TWO TO BE THE BEST SEQUELS OF THE FRANCHISE!
When it comes to sequels, HALLOWEEN II is right up there at the top of the list. This movie picks up in the town of Haddonfield immediately after Doctor Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasance) fires six bullets into the escaped killer in the previous film named Michael Myers. Dr. Loomis arrives at the scene shocked to discover that Michaels body is now gone from where it had been lying on the front lawn after having fallen off a second floor balcony. Dr. Loomis continues his search for Michael while Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) is awaiting an ambulance inside Tommy Doyles house after having been attacked and stabbed in the shoulder while babysitting. Laurie had also discovered three dead bodies and the stolen gravestone of Judith Myers in the house across the street. The news is all over town ... Michael will continue on with his reign of terror at Haddonfield Memorial Clinic in an attempt to kill Laurie who had been admitted there after having lost quite a bit of blood from her stab wound. We find out now that Laurie is actually Michaels sister who was born two years before a six year old Michael was committed to the Smiths Grove Sanitarium for having murdered his older sister Judith. The brother and sister storyline worked for me because it explains for Michaels constant pursuit for Laurie throughout the films. There was no intention to make a sequel to Halloween at the time of its release in 1978. John Carpenter and Debra Hill who wrote Halloween once again wrote the script for H2 although Rick Rosenthal (BAD BOYS 1983) was brought in to direct. The cinemaphotographer from the original (Dean Cundey) was brought back to keep the look and feel of this being the same night. In my opinion it should have been over for Michael in H2 and John Carpenter was wise to leave well enough left alone. Look at Michael burning on fire at the end of this film to realize just how foolish it was to bring him back into the franchise. HALLOWEEN III is part of this disc set and it is shame that it had a poor reception from fans because it is without Michael Myers. I have come to realize it is a good film which should have been accepted for being an original idea other than that of a masked killer which had been done before. The true meaning of Halloween is explained to us from a sadistic madman named Conal Cochran (Dan O Herlihy). Some believe that Halloween should not have been included in the title since it has nothing to do with the first two films. However the movie still has to do with Halloween and in my opinion it made more sense to leave it in the title. This is not a poprcorn movie and a few of the scenes are really quite gruesome and disturbing. The ending has Daniel Challis (Tom Atkins) screaming into a telephone in an attempt to stop the Silver Shamrock Commercial from being advertised to children who wear these masks from Silver Shamrock Novelities which are designed to brutally murder them. It would have been nice to see what happens after that in HALLOWEEN IV. However this film failed at the box office and remains a stand alone film. The franchise would never be the same after this film because it marked the last time John Carpenter and Debra Hill would be involved.

Two For The Price Of One
These are two of the Best Halloween Movies all in one. I already have 1 so believe me when I say 2 and 3 are excellent as well. It came in great shape for a used DVD and both played like new. The battle of Michael Myers continues in two. While Halloween 3 takes on a new approach of a sinister Warlock.

II was good, III was not.
Halloween II was good. Halloween III Season Of The Witch was aweful! It had absolutely nothing to do with Michael Myers or anything remotely related to the series.

Good, bad, and the ugly.
Part two was good, sometimes a little campy, but still entertaining. Part three went off the formula, probably to make part 4 possible. Part three was ok, a little strange.
