HEROIC AGE is an epic anime series based on the mythology of the Greek deity Heracles. In a strange world set in a distant future, Dhianeila, the princess of the humans, joins forces with the crew of an advanced star-traveling spaceship known as the Argonaut in a search for the messiah that will save mankind before it crumbles into nothingness.     Heroic Age Complete Series Part 1

    I bought Heroic Age the Complete Collection Part 1 after watching the series online with English subtitles. Heroic Age is about an epic war in space between the Silver Tribe, Bronze Tribe and the Iron Tribe (humans). Lead by Princess Dhianeila, the humans find a savior told to them in an ancient prophecy and begin to turn the tide of war. The series has a very deep and complicated storyline which is very interesting but unfortunately it takes away a bit from character development and they tend to use the same music over and over again. On the other hand, the animation is flawless and no battle scenes are duplicated. It takes a while for the series to get going, about halfway through, but once it does it becomes a pretty good watch.     Heroic Age The Complete Series

    Obviously, I recommend watching at least a few episodes of a tv series before buying it on DVD. I personally watched the entire series via Hulu.com and fell in love with it there (Hulu.com is a very useful tool). Now about the product. It is a fantasy anime. That has a little bit of everything in it. It has romance, action scenes, and a strong sense of heroism that lingers as an intoxicating after taste. The theme of the show - which is even mentioned in the opening song - is the mind set that "despite being in sorrow I spew nothing but bravado". Within the story line it is man kind's existence itself that hangs in the balance. And I admit, the ending made me cry.
