Product Information

Starring Viggo Mortensen before he became a star in LORD OF THE RINGS, VANISHING POINT is a remake of the 1971 cult classic. Mortensen plays Jimmy Kowalski, a former army ranger who learns that his pregnant wife has become quite ill while he is a thousand miles away. Without a second though, he hops into his car and races off to be with her. But following his speeding automobile, a small army of cops grows, at first annoyed at Jimmy's speed but eventually fearful that his refusal to stop could be a sign of dangerous intentions. VANISHING POINT turns the original on its head through an endorsement of conservative politics, while remaining true to the exciting car chase action.

    Vanishing Point (2005, DVD)

    There is much more to this movie than "a CAR movie". It is a redo of the classic from the '70s, but for different reasons, the motive in this movie is personal, not professional (as was the movie in the 70's). Jimmy (Viggo) is 1200 miles from his wife who's having serious problems giving birth in Idaho (He's in N. Mex.). His urgency / her dire situation is the impetus for the plot outline that then takes the course that while he's 'speeding' to get to his wife in her time of need, law enforcement go to great lengths to stop him (same plot as the 1st movie) & since this 'chase' takes place thru several states, and tracked by "The Voice" (Jason Priestley) A radio DJ who is suspicious of Govt. is very curious of why large federal interest is taking 'control' of this pursuit, linking him ...

    *~A VERY GOOD CAR CHASE MOVIE w/ US GOVT CORRUPTION~*

    Before we purchased this movie in our Car Chase 3-DVD Set, we never heard of it. After watching it, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT and give it a VERY GOOD Rating!! It takes a MOPAR to catch a MOPAR? Watch the movie and find out!! A corruptive U.S. Federal Government and Dept of Justice claim to file a false case of Domestic Terrorism against an Honest Americans cross-country attempt to be with his hospitalized pregnant wife. Shows how an "honest-living" American can easily be a Criminal/Felon/Threat to Society in the Governments mind. In a hot Federal pursuit across four states, Jimmy Kowalski(played by Viggo Mortensen of Lord of The Rings) tends to "vanish" into thin air everytime the FBI is hot on his trail. 185+MPH crash ending into a Govt Federal Roadblock.....     So much better than the orginal!!!!!

    If you have seen the orginal you need to see this one i rate it 10 fold over the orginal in plot, action and all around just the best car chase movie ever! It has some changes to the plot that improve it so much. However they did keep some old perks from the orginal. The hemi challenger, that is possibly the tightest car dodge ever came out with. I would suggest this to not only guys who just love seeing action but also to girls because the basis to the movie and the ending will get yall. Not saying why i guess you just have to watch and see.

    Vanishing Point (2005)

    The newer Vanishing hasn't been published here in Finland but I finally found it on Ebay. I'm a big muscle car enthusiast and wanted to add this great car movie in my collection. The movie is about '70 DODGE CHALLENGER with a big block HEMI, plain and simple. One black CHARGER also get's a little show time.. Don't expect to see anything else. Take it as it is, a CAR movie.

    A remake that surpasses the original.

    This remake version surpasses the original in both acting and story line. The 70 Hemi Challenger is the true star of the film, but Viggo Mortensen does a fantastic job of of portraying a common man being pursued by an indifferent System hell bent on stopping him at any cost.
