À propos de ce produit

Product Information

Lucille Ball is primarily known for her television work, with I LOVE LUCY seemingly destined to remain in the hearts and minds of American viewers for all eternity. But she carved out an impressive resume as an actress, and chalked up over 100 appearances before her untimely death in 1989. STONE PILLOW was made just before she passed away, and stands as a fine testament to Ball's talents. Acting against type, she plays Florabelle, an aging New York bag lady who forms an unlikely friendship with social worker Carrie Lang (Daphne Zuniga) after the two meet in a homeless shelter. Carrie wants to learn about life on the streets of the Big Apple, and gets a few eye-opening surprises as Florabelle teaches her every trick in the book. A moving, thoughtful film, STONE PILLOW manages to avoid slipping into condescension thanks to some great performances and a well-written script, ultimately providing viewers with a realistic slice of a life that has fallen far from the beaten track.

  • I love Lucy in this film!

As the review says on the back of the DVD Lucille Ball is superb in her final role as an old bad lady who is down on her luck in this film. She did a great job and is totally believable in the role as she shows her new found friend Carrie (Daphne Zuniga) the how to survive on the gritty streets of New York. Her character is tough and cantankerous, but at heart she has a mother's love and concern and the hopes and dreams of any soul facing the desperation of homelessness. I am not going to give any more away, but to say that the movie deeply touched me and made me give thought to the plight facing those who are homeless. I would rate the film 8/10 and recommend it to any Lucille Ball or otherwise. I really enjoyed it and hope others can say the same.

  • Stone pillow

Lucille Ball is as great a serious actress as she is in comedy! She played in her last performance perfectly... She even looks like a "florabelle"...ive been wanting this movie forever and accidentally found it.... It will be a great walk up memory lane watching it again!

  • Lucille Ball as You've Never Seen Her!!

This is about a homeless woman [played by Lucille Ball] who actually remembers coming from a wealthy, educated home and acts accordenly but people think she's "pretending to be smart and well-bred" because of her situation until she runs into a homeless man who also was from an educated home but lost his sanity to mental illness and they team up after he saves her from being robbed....the story goes much deeper then I can put in words here but Lucy should have won an Acadamy Award for this role, and I'm sure she would have had she not died---this was her LAST film....a must see tearjerker!!!

  • Stone Pillow worth the money

This is such a great film! The actors show such genuine emotion and depth to their characters. I love Lucille Ball and had seen this movie once before. It had such a lasting impression on me. I know she was known as the funny lady but I think she was so much more real than she was given credit for. Daphne Zuniga is also very good in her supporting role. These two women do a wonderful job of invoking emotion where one would not think they would react. I wonderful film and I highly recommend it.
