Breaking Bad - (DVD, 2013)
As a devoted follower of the entire Breaking Bad saga, I find myself just a little dissatisfied with the ending. Sure, the writers tried to bring closure to every aspect and all actors in the story, but it just seemed TOO tidy, just not up to the gritty storyline that I had come to expect and look forward too. I think that a totally different ending would have played so much better. . . maybe not for everybody, but the way that they chose to end this tough, gristly, kick then in the n%#s series just feels wimpy to me. How about something on this line: We all remember Walter, the way he was when he started, an absolute NERD'S NERD. This guy was so straight-laced! He actually reminded me of some of the high school teachers that I had - years ago! Then all of a sudden, WOW - C A N C ... He actually reminded me of some of the high school teachers that I had - years ago! Then all of a sudden, WOW - C A N C E R ! Not only that, but inoperable, hopeless, go out and buy a coffin, cancer! Now we meet the brother-in-law Hank. Boy, is this guy a piece of work! He's a fat-mouthed typical Fed who has had his overpaid job for too long - he thinks that he is the smartest badass in New Mexico. He's a cop and because of that he can do whatever he wants. His Mexican co-workers probably would have put a bullet in him if they thought they could get away with it. Now Walter goes on a ride-along and gets an eyeful when he sees the money, then Jesse Pinkman, ex-student, and semi-pro drug cooker - all-around loser! Walt seizes upon the moment and the story begins. . . All throughout the story, Walter is the only one of the team who seems to have any balls. He quickly has to stand up time and again to pull Jesse's worthless but out of the fire, because he just can't seem to link two drug-damaged brain cells together long enough to do anything but screw up. He goes and shoots off his mouth to the Mexicans who drag him back to the desert where Walt is cooking. Walt has to kill them in order to save both his and Jesse's lives. Then he has to kill two more when Jesse freaks out after Combo gets wasted by the little brother of his drug user girlfriend Andrea. It just seems that every time some crisis arises, and there is a wedge forced into their relationship with Gus, it is because of something stupid that Jesse caused. I know, a lot of bad stuff happened, but this is the drug trade - get a grip! Jesse's other drug-addicted girlfriend, Jane, then chokes to death on her own puke. What was Walt supposed to do, help her? Sure, so that she could blackmail him forever, just as soon as she managed to grab all of Jesse's money! Bottom line - Jesse is the weak link throughout the series. Walter constantly rises to the occasion and truly becomes HEISENBERG! The way I would have rather seen it all end, would have been for Walt to have had a miraculous remission on his last check-up before Hank gets killed. Then while on the lamb in New Hampshire, a little plastic surgery. Now, with a slightly new face and a head of hair, he convinces Skyler that he is dying and going to make the final showdown. Only this time, lets let worthless Jesse catch the fatal bullet. Jesse can still kill Todd, but while he is dying, Walt could tell him how all of his screw-ups and druggie choices caused everything to fail. Walt calles him "Bitch" as he dies. Walt then torches the entire place leaving nothing but ashes! The final scene has Lydia dying, and Walter crossing the Rio Grande into Mexico, right where Mike died. Walt is wearing his HEISENBERG hat, with a backpack full of money, and his new identity.

Over all very GOOD
Over all the Fifth Season really rolls. It is very dramatic and serious. The partnership is only by a thread , tense and uneasy..Walter fights his cancer and it shows how it breaks him down while he finds the idea of being the King Of Meth builds him up and is definitely for him.... IF you like Bryan Cranston then you will absolutely LOVE Breaking Bad... IT shows he is super multi-talented and brilliant to the point of AWESOME ! After this series was over I honestly had a difficult time keeping interest in any other series for a long time......... I bought this Fifth Season to keep my set on track and bought the Sixth and Final Season. The DVD is great and has no problems in functionality. Epic Show. Worth Watching Season 5
Pretty good conclusion to an epic show. Season 5 is only 8 episodes long. I guess they split up the season into 2 - parts, and this is the first part... There really was no way to top season 4, and yet you felt like you couldn't stop at the end of season 4 either. Season 5 feels a little forced and the scripting isn't as sharp. Walter goes Solo, robs a train, is forced to kill off Mike, and laughs all the way to the Bank... well, not laughing, but reclaiming his family. Skylar is a real witch, and Jesse kind of drifts off purposeless. In the end Walter gains the confidence to do exactly what he wants, and money is no longer an issue with a storage unit full of hard cash. How to stay alive and still provide for your family.
This series is showing us how deep you can go, get in so much trouble, hang on to life and still have your family stand by your side. Ok, it stretches the limits of a chemistry teacher but he's doing what he can to survive and provide for his family. Lots of lies can get you to the bottom, just need a good head to keep track of it all. Enjoy the trip, i sure did. And yes, there's hard thing you can see in this series. Some people do get killed. Suited for an adult audience.This series is showing us how deep you can go, get in so much trouble, hang on to life and still have your family stand by your side. Great series
Sometimes they do things that just drive me nuts. Walter is clearly begging to be caught. Jesse is a child. Even though I'm years behind on watching this series, it is a very compelling show. As far as at least half of the DVDs I've ordered, the closed captions don't work in English.
