Product Information

Whitetail, Columbia blacktail, and Mule Deer are the targets in Deer Hunter 4: World-Class Record Bucks. The game's six locations are sites of actual world-record kills, including locales in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Colorado, Missouri, Oregon, and Washington, with a target range available to hone skills prior to venturing out into the wild. Gameplay modes feature daily hunts (quick play), primitive hunts with muzzleloaders or bows, and general seasons using rifles, bows, shotguns, or handguns. Vegetation and weather conditions change during early fall, late fall, early winter, and late winter; animal behavior realistically alters depending on time of day (dawn, morning, afternoon, or dusk); and deer sport antlers in thousands of type and size combinations. Six world-record slots, two for each type of deer (typical and non-typical antlers), are displayed in your trophy room with options to view the head mount, full body, or even the location of your killing shot. World-class trophy bucks are available only when bagged using the hard skill level (Avid Hunter). Unlike earlier games in the series, Deer Hunter 4 contains three skill levels, including easy (for beginners and quick hunt enthusiasts) and medium (on a par with hunts in Deer Hunter 3: The Legend Continues). Additional features run the gamut from planting varying types of seeds (rye, corn, and wheat) and using decoys, scents, rattles, drip bags, and calls to lure deer, to utilizing ATVs, boats, snowmobiles, trucks, GPS units, scopes, and more. Depending on connection speeds (DSL or T1 recommended), up to six or seven players can hunt as companions with optional time or kill limits. A "Play the Deer" mode is offered for those who wish to test their animal instincts by emulating the prey.

excellent hunting game-
Deer Hunter 4 and Rocky Mtn Trophy hunter 2003 are the best of all the hunting PC Rom games. Deer Hunter 4 is the first game I bought and Trophy hunter the second. Since than I have bought 60 hunting PC Rom games and these two are the best. I hardly play the others. Both of these have great graphics, areas to hunt and animal species to hunt and than there are good features in each that each have that the other does not. Now For Deer Hunter 4. One of the best things is the animals show their size. If it is a 4 point you can count the horns to tell. The Extra large animals have multiple horns and so on. The next thing DH4 has is a great trophy room. You can see the deer in different views by clicking body views. The wounds show so you know where you hit the deer. By moving the cursor over ... By moving the cursor over the animal you stop animal from turning and view the top and bottom of the deer. It has a statistics screen of the hits and misses you make plus other statistics. It identifies the hit when you hit the deer. If it says "grazed" the deer wound will not kill the deer. If it says "wound" the hit will kill the animal. The hit deer's blood trail is easy to follow. You can find a location to wait for deer to come by because the deer will travel the same trails. The deer travel according to time of day. There are plenty of big deer to hunt. There is plenty of weapons The things I wish this game had is a better target area. The farthest target is about 100m away. I would like to have 200m targets because their is plenty of deer as far away as 300 to 400m. Also I wish going to the target range did not count as a hunt. You can't sight the weapons to perfect alignment. The sight changes too much each click to fine tune it. But I do like being able to sight in each weapon. I wish it would give you a bag limit and check it on the screen when you kill an animal so you know how many you have killed during the hunt. If you look in the Readme files you will find a list of cheat options. However the cheat option will label your kill as poached. Awesome game.

One of the most realistic games available!
I recently wrote a review for 2005 season. I have never found such realistic hunting action on any other game. I have tried many different hunting games, including Cabela's, and none of them compare to Atari Deer Hunter games. This is the most realistic, and feature packed game available besides the 2005 season. I reccommend all of these games. To start, this game features many different maps, as well as many websites to download 100's of maps made by people who have used the map editor which comes with the game as an added bonus. Many downloadable features such as, cabins, houses, plants, trees, vegitation, vehicles, waters, roads, rocks, and much more. Create your own hunting area, and control the weather, and animals that are all huntable. This is bar none the most realistic game ... I recently wrote a review for 2005 season. Better than newer hunting games!
So immersing I'd be shivering while playing in August heat! There's a bunch of free downloadable extra maps available online. Still waiting to get the elusive white buck!

The graphics are awesome and there are bigger bucks then you'll ever imagine. The guns and scopes are amazing. This game is awesome!!
