À propos de ce produit

Product Information

Once the Sith order teemed with followers. But their rivalries divided them in endless battles for supremacy. Until one dark lord at last united the Sith in the quest to enslave the galaxy- and exterminate the Jedi. Yet it would fall to another, far more powerful than the entire Brotherhood of Darkness, to ultimately realize the full potential of the Sith, and wield the awesome power of the dark side as never before. Since childhood, Dessel has known only the abuse of his hateful father and the dangerous, soul-crushing labor of a cortosis miner. Deep in the tunnels of the desolate planet Apatros, endlessly excavating the rare mineral valued throughout the galaxy, Dessel dreams of the day he can escape- a day he fears may never come. But when a high-stakes card game ends in deadly violence, Dessel suddenly finds himself a wanted man. On the run from vengeful Republic forces, Dessel vanishes into the ranks of the Sith army, and ships out to join the bloody war against the Republic and its Jedi champions. There, Dessel' s brutality, cunning, and exceptional command of the Force swiftly win him renown as a warrior. But in the eyes of his watchful masters, he is destined for a far greater role in the ultimate Sith plan for the galaxy- if he can prove himself truly worthy. As an acolyte in the Sith academy, studying the secrets and skills of the dark side at the feet of its greatest masters, Dessel embraces his new Sith identity: Bane. However the true test is yet to come. In order to gain acceptance into the Brotherhood of Darkness one must fully surrender to the dark side through a trial by fire that Bane, for all his unquenchable fury and lust for power, may not be strong enough to endure . . . especially since deception, treachery, and murder run rampant among the Sith disciples, and utter ruthlessness alone is the key to survival. Only by defying the most sacred traditions, rejecting all he has been taught, and drawing upon the long-forgotten wisdom of the very first Sith can Bane hope to triumph- and forge from the ashes of that which he must destroy a new era of absolute dark power.

  • Only Two There Are

Most of the books and comics in the Star Wars Expanded Universe have taken place either 25,000 before the Battle of Yavin or up to 40 years after the BoY. It is a delight to finally have fiction set in another time, and this era in particular (1,000 years before BoY) has not been explored. To my knowledge, only one comic book series (Jedi vs. Sith) has been set during this time, as the Knights of the Old Republic games and comics take place several thousand years earlier. Drew Karpyshyn is a great writer - he wrote the script for KOTR, which had an excellent plot I would rank right with the three original films and the very best of the novels. By the midpoint of the game, the storyline was absolutely riveting as your character worked out his or her past and started to understand the ...

  • Perfection!!!

Coming from a serious collector and die-hard Star Wars fanatic, you can trust my opinion on this one! This book is a definite "MUST HAVE!!!" for anyone who has even the slightest interest in any of the Star Wars movies, books, or comics. The author has you spellbound from the moment that you open the book, to the dreaded moment that you finish reading it! Now the reason that I use the expression, "dreaded", is because the author starts the book off so slowly and keeps the reader entranced throughout and you can't put it down, so when you are reaching towards the end of the book, everything finishes fast, too fast, and it leaves you wanting more. I feel that this is one of those books that is great reading material for everyone, but it is written in a way that a teenager will enjoy it, but ...

  • Gladly surprised!!!

When this book was out, I wasn't sure reading a story 1000 years before "a new hope" would be intriguing. But "Yes it is". Finally, after reading a few reviews i told myself to buy the first book and see how it is. It's really good. I didn't finish it yet, but so far I'm at page 360 out 400 and something and I love it. It is different from the other books. In the sense that the Sith are the object of the story and not the Jedi. The story takes place on Apatros a planet that helps mostly the republic. The main character is called Des and he's a minor. By reading this book, you will see how he went from semi-good to evil. The great thing about this book is that the story is fast and that there aren't chapters written just to make the book seem bigger. Another thing i liked was that there ...

  • Leaving a path of destruction...

I've read this book twice and loved it both times. Ive always felt it starts out a little slow but once it gets going I can't stop. Reading the action sequences is a joy as the author guides you through exactly the motions and sounds he wants you to experience. Pacing is good, and I really like Darth Bane as a character. The way in which the author handles sexuality sometimes feels a bit clunky or forced but it's a small price to pay for such an epic story of an ancient sith Lord! If you like star wars history go buy this now!

  • Good read, but I was slightly disappointed

I'm going to be completely honest. I had very high hopes for this book after reading reviews by other readers. But within the first 20 pages my expectations weren't met. The book was good over all, but there a few inconsistencies and awkward setting changes that were slightly irritating. The general story line is great, I think that was excellent perhaps superb. However the connection made between certain events seemed as if the book was rushed together and that little effort was put into creating an organized, seamless story. Descriptive writing of each individual scene was par, it wasn't as deep and dark as it should have been considering the subjects. Also, dramatic leaps forward in time through the story were interconnected with vague, nonintuitive events that seemed sort of ...
