GREATEST TEAM EVER!
There are only a handful of professional sports teams that appear to stand above all the rest in historic fashion. One of those teams is the 1985 Chicago Bears. With supermen like Walter Payton, Mike Singletary, and Richard Dent along with ultra-personalities such as William "The Refrigerator" Perry, Jim McMahon and Otis Wilson, "Da Bears" established themselves as arguably the greatest NFL team in league history. They smashed their weekly foes with embarrasing force and scoring at will every opportunity that presented itself. Offense. Defense. Special teams. When a Chicago Bears versus (fill in the blank) game was on the television in 1985, people all over the country were glued to the set. A team of attitude, swagger, almost innocent arrogance, would take the ... There are only a handful of professional sports teams that appear to stand above all the rest in historic fashion. With supermen like Walter Payton, Mike Singletary, and Richard Dent along with ultra-personalities such as William "The Refrigerator" Perry, Jim McMahon and Otis Wilson, "Da Bears" established themselves as arguably the greatest NFL team in league history. They smashed their weekly foes with embarrasing force and scoring at will every opportunity that presented itself. Offense. Defense. Special teams. When a Chicago Bears versus (fill in the blank) game was on the television in 1985, people all over the country were glued to the set. A team of attitude, swagger, almost innocent arrogance, would take the gridiron every seven days and everyone who was a fan could identify with one or more of the players on a personal level. Head coach, Mike Ditka and Assistant Buddy Ryan added to the lure of the legacy by being two rough and tumble grown men who did not agree on much, but somehow made it work for at least a season. Wether you liked the powerhouse, grind it out, running game of Payton and Matt Suhey, or the finesse of speedsters Willie Gault and Dennis Gentry hauling in a defense crushing bomb from the arm of Jim McMahon, you had to love the Bears offense. And when they were done, you couldn't get out of your chair because here comes the defense. Led by "Samurai" Mike Singletary, the ferocious Chicago "D" was relentless in their pursuit in not only stopping whatever offense was put in front of them, but embarrasing them in a fashion seen only by a handful of guys spread over the league here and there. A whole team. Every position on defense was like cloning several Jack Lambert's, or Mean Joe Green's to devour every play as the ball was snapped. They hit harder. They ran faster. And most importantly they played smarter than any other team before them.....and at the end, they won on the biggest stage in the world......the Super Bowl. Only one loss on Monday Night Football to a mediocre Miami Dolphins team hinders the argument of "Greatest Team Ever". Statistically, the '85 Bears are leaps and bounds above their closest competitors. But statistics and arguments are absolutely meaningless in comparison to watching them with your own eyes, take the field in 1985, and dominate like they did. The only thing that could make this dvd collection any better, would be to include the other six games missing from the season. If you are a Bears fan, you have to own this. If you are a football fan, you have to own this. If you are a fan of anything at all, you have to own this.

A Football Fan Must
First off it's the 1985 Chicago Bears. Secondly, it's also cool to look back at those teams that had a young Marino, Montana, Rice, and all of those NFL Hall of Famers. I also love the commentary and the feel of football when it was only on a couple channels. When CBS was the big NFL stud and ABC had the Monday Night games. Plus you do see where rules are different and the size of players is much different, either shoulder pads were bigger or the players now are so much bigger. I wish they would've at least put the other four games in the set, but it's still an awesome collection. You start off with the wild home opener against Tampa Bay and go through a season where the Bears seemed to get better and better. And not only with all of that you get another chance ... Watching them realize they are going to the Super Bowl after defeating the Rams is very emotional. Payton finally getting there. Plus throw in the awesome defense, the coaches which you look close you can spot Jeff Fisher who is now the coach of Tennessee. Little things like that make this an awesome package for Bears and NFL fans all over.

A must have for any BEARS fan
If you are a true fan of the Chicago Bears, then you have ot have this set in your collection. It contains the following games from the 85 Superbowl Season: Week # 1 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Week # 3 vs. Minnesota Vikings Week # 4 vs. Washington Redskins Week # 5 vs. Tampa Bay Week # 6 vs. San Francisco 49ers Week # 7 vs. Green Bay Packers Week # 11 vs. Dallas Cowboys Week # 13 vs. Miami Dolphins (Only loss all year) Week # 16 vs. Detroit Lions Plus the Following Games NFC Divisional Playoffs VS. New York Giants NFC Championship Game VS. Los Angeles Rams and Finally SUPERBOWL XX VS. New England Patroits. Being a big Bears fan the only thing that would have made this set nothing short of excellent would have been every game (Preseason, Regular season and ... But that's what the NFL Network is for. This set is priced fairly reasonable and as I said earlier should be a must for any fan of the Bears. Being able to see the fun of the late Walter Payton running again, Jim McMahon doing his thinng and the awesome defense that made the Bears so feared that year was well worth the investment. I was thrilled when I found this set and have watched most of the games so far. One thing to keep in mind is that this set was copied from old videotape masters and there are spots where video and sound breaks up. But considering the cost of the set, this is something that the love for the Bears can overlook.

Are you kidding, you can't mess up the 1985 Chicago Bears game film. The best Chicago team ever starring the best running back in history, Walter "Sweetness" Payton. I love that man and I will cherish his play and this 85 Bears team forever. Wanna watch thee most dominant football team tear through the season with the craziest group of players ever? If so this is the dvd set for you. Payton, McMahon, Gault, McKinnon, Thayer, Hilgenberg, VanHorne, the meanest D ever with Singeltary, Marshall, Dent, McMichael, the Fridge, Fencik, Frazier, Richardson and more. For the true Bears or NFL fan
I was surprised to find that this set has become a collectors item. A sealed set can cost you from $500-$800. An Open sat can run anywhere from 250 to 450. Amazing for an item that cost $59.85 when it was released. The set does not include the entire season. Due to deterioration only 12 master tapes of the games remain. Seven of the games have deteriorated so badly that they were unable to process them for the set. Very sad. Whether you are a Bears fan or not, it is remarkable to watch the greatest defense of all time. They swarm, rock, attack and overwhelm opposing offices. As you watch from the first game of the season you can see how the team eventually came together to dominate. It may not be the greatest value due to the price but it is unquestionably entertaining and the characters ... I was surprised to find that this set has become a collectors item.
