Having directed an acclaimed segment of the short-story omnibus BOYS LIFE 4 (O BEAUTIFUL), writer-director Alan Brown makes his feature-length debut with a character-driven exploration of marriage and fidelity, BOOK OF LOVE. David (Simon Baker) and Elaine (Frances O'Connor) are a happily married couple whose relationship has nonetheless become a bit sedate. With Elaine unready to have kids, the couple strike up a friendship with 15-year-old Chet (Gregory Smith, EVERWOOD), a motherless youth who works part-time at the local ice cream shop. But Chet's presence at the dinner table and on family vacations soon sparks sexual attraction with Elaine, prompting an uneasy romantic triangle that challenges the couple's relationship. Bryce Dallas Howard (THE VILLAGE) turns in a supporting performance as one of David's students, who harbors a crush on her teacher and offers yet another source of tension in the marriage.

Should Have Been 'Book of Infidelity'!!!
This movie is not about love. It is about some older woman having an affair with some little boy. The whole story puts a feeling of dicomfort into the pit of your stomach. Nobody gets what they deserve in the end. There is no real sense of consequences for actions. Characters are in their underwear through about half of the movie. This is just one of those movies it almost feels dirty to watch and may disturb some. A lot of talent felt wasted in this movie. Might be worth watching once for a breakup movie so you know not what to do with your relationship. Can't say I'd feel heartbroken if I had never seen it though. 2/5This movie is not about love. Better movies involving love triangles out there.
It had some good acting but fairly predictable story line. The husband is hard to read at times because you almost feel like he is a victim but also like he is either really stupid or so needy that he is willing to be walked on and taken advantage of. The wife makes no sense in the way she lures the boy in and seduces in and then tosses him aside like its his fault only to draw him back again. When the fight between the husband and boy breaks out I was expecting a crime of the heart breaking into a suspense but it just ended up revealing how screwed up they all were. There are no real winners in the end.It had some good acting but fairly predictable story line.
