A good dvd on the history of combat shooting
There are many dvds on history but not many on combat shooting in particular. This is a history dvd on historical combat incidents including many in Iraq, some in the Wild West, many during World War II, some in Vietnam and some including the police. My favorite incidents were the ones on the Wild West particularly the shoot out at a Minnesota bank that ruined the James and Younger gang. I also enjoyed the dvd on the North Hollywood 1997 shootout between the LA Police and Larry Phillips, Jr. and Emil Mătăsăreanu. I had bought the dvd 44 Minutes which was about the shootout and it was good to compare that movie to the Shootout recreation of that shootout. If, like myself, you want a documentary on military combat this dvd is for you.There are many dvds on history but not many on combat shooting in particular. Shootout!
This is a show that will appeal to students of military history. The episodes re-enact historic battles that have taken place over the last century, ranging from a bank robbery in Northridge, MN in the days of the wild west, to the firefights taking place in Iraq & Afghanistan. Stories are told from the point of view of the soldiers of the soldiers involved whenever possible. I think this is important in order to acknowledge the service & sacrifice of our servicemen past & present. The only thing that keeps this set from being an excellent set, at least in my case is the fact that one of the episodes listed in the set, "Storming France" is not included in any of the discs.This is a show that will appeal to students of military history. History Channel Presents - Shootout (2007, DVD)
This video set includes the first two seasons of Shootout as seen on the History Channel. The stories depicted are an accurate portrayal of the real incident. They are interesting to watch and very informative. If you enjoy watching law enforcement and military documentaries this set is for you. Disc #2 includes the North Hollywood shooting where two heavily armed bandits enter the Bank of America on Laurel Canyon Dr. When the criminals exit the building, they are confronted by LAPD's finest. What happens next is 44 minutes of pure gunfighting between the officers and suspects. In the end it shows the bravery and courage each individual officer. This is a great episode. There are also many episodes where the brave men and women of our military engage in hostile forces. Excellent video set! ... Shootout Review
I bought this for my dad after we had caught a few episodes on TV. We had really enjoyed watching them together and so I bought this so we could see all of them. It is really amazing what can be done with computers to simulate some of these battles in history. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys military history, from WWII to Iraq. It's amazing to see how courageous some of these men have been. 5/5 Good buy!I bought this for my dad after we had caught a few episodes on TV.
