NOTHING can compete with the original Slap Shot movie....This book does give some great behind the scenes tidbits about the filming of the movie, and being a Pennsylvania native it's nice to know Johnstown's famous for more than the great flood and the sad decline of the steel mills there. If you are a Slap Shot fan foil up, get the book or at least borrow it and give it a read, you won't be wasting your time! One can STILL go to J-Town and stand in the square, it's pretty cool to do that while imagining Reggie Dunlop's driving by in that great GTO of his! Be sure to wear your Charlestown Chiefs T-shirt like I did, plenty of people will make friendly comments about their memories of the movie being filmed. There seem to be a TON of Slap Shot fans living in Johnstown. A visit to the ... Packed with laughs and wonderful memories of bygone hockey.
Saw some folks at a Hanson Brothers signing with the book, so I took a look. Fantastic look into Dave's beginnings in hockey and the actual players who became immortalized in the movie and not just the crazy Hanson brothers. The real Oglethorpe, Hanrahan, Indian Chief etc. Learn about the making of the movie and the shenanigans on and off the production areas. A very nice insight into the character of Paul Newman as well. I have laughed out loud many times and have recommended it to many! Slap Shot Original
Well written book really gives you the flavor of who Dave Hanson the hockey player was. There are some great anecdotes and stories form the people in the movie Slapshot that were very entertaining to read. I also liked the wide array of photos.

Great behind the scenes look at the making of the greatest sports movie ever. Didi not know that the movie is actually based off of true life characters.
