Could Have Been Better
There is many good things in this set, but there is also allot of bad as well. As I did when I first saw this in 1994 I enjoyed the early history of the game, but also I felt very much cheated by it as well. My feelings did not change after seeing the 2004 box set. The disc extra innings I thought would have had updates on the past 10 years not to mention things left out of the original program. Not so. The Extra Innings disc did have some good interviews though. The set though good and thorough for the most part seems to me to be a biased set leaning towards Mr Burns's favorite teams. He totally dismisses others. His main focus are on the Yankees and Red Sox. Not that they do not deserve attention,but others need to be as well. For example, I am a Detroit Tigers fan. Not a word about the 1935, 1945, 1984 World Series at all. There were allot of very important things that happened in those games. Many players from various teams that deserved mentioning were completely ignored or just briefly mentioned. We are talking about players that were on the caliber of Mantle, Ted Williams. It does have allot of good baseball history, but do not expect much of anything new that happened in the 10 years from when it first aired. It could have been better. It is not worth the $100.00 price tag. $45.00 new is more like it. It cool to have though.

Clearly For The Baseball Lover In All Of Us
First of all, I knew going in that anything by Ken Burns was going to be well researched, thorough, old, hidden pictures and films, and a nice chronological story. And so it is. If you just have a mild, passing interest in this sport, pass it by. There is WAY to much history, memories and nostalgia here for the passing fan. No, THIS IS FOR THE REAL BASEBALL FAN. Those that remember or have an interest in knowing about it's origin, the sport through the decades, inside stories about legends you've only heard about. It's not a series to binge out on in one weekend as fatigue and overload will set in. Stretch it out, maybe a disc a week, drink it all in, and wish things were like that today. This was when baseball was a sport and not a business. If you don't long ... Ken Burns Baseball
This is THE BEST thing that I have ever seen on baseball, ever. Im not a baseball know it all, just a fan since a child. I saw this series and always had the intention of buying it for myself. But I particularly wanted to buy it for my brother. Kinda forgot about it along the way. When my brother had a birthday November 2nd, the World Series was in full swing. I remembered the series and thought what a great gift it would be. I'm so glad I bought it because my sister-in-law says he loves it and watches innings of it all the time. Just reminds me of how good Ken Burns series all are.This is THE BEST thing that I have ever seen on baseball, ever. Im not a baseball know it all, just a fan since a child.
