Weary of being alone in the vast forest, unicorn Amalthea (Mia Farrow) begins to wonder if she's the last of her kind. Following a rumor, she joins forces with feeblish wizard Schmendrick (Alan Arkin) and wayward barmaid Molly (Tammy Grimes) to look for the mystical Red Bull, a creature known to hunt and imprison unicorns. In order to walk unnoticed among men, Schmendrick magically transforms Amalthea into a beautiful woman. Together the three embark on a adventurous journey into the dark land of King Haggard, the man rumored to control the Red Bull. Based on Peter Beagle's novel of the same name, THE LAST UNICORN is a bright, colorful tale about love and loss. Farrow loans her fluttering voice indelibly to the lips of the unicorn, and Arkin is spot on playing the spell-casting wizard Schmendrick. The film also features the vocal talents of Jeff Bridges, Christopher Lee, and Angela Lansbury. Complete with an over-the-top soundtrack by the pop band America, THE LAST UNICORN is perhaps the high point of directors Arthur Rankin's and Jules Bass's film career. (They would soon move out of film to produce the two highly successful syndicated television series THUNDERCATS and SILVERHAWKS.)

A Fantasy Masterpiece
The Last Unicorn is a wonderful film; a masterpiece of cinematography with beautiful art and fluid animation, moving storytelling and an awesome cast of voice actors as well as characters. They don't make movies like this any more, the traditional animation is breath taking and this fantasy adventure will move your heart. The blu-ray is excellent, audio quality is fantastic and although there is a decent amount of grain in the video, you won't miss any of the sharp, crisp details.The Last Unicorn is a wonderful film; a masterpiece of cinematography with beautiful art and fluid animation, moving storytelling and an awesome cast of voice actors as well as characters. Childhood movie
I have loved this movie since I was young. It still hits heart strings that any animal could die, but I still love beautiful animals magical and mythical. I have a unicorn collection among other animals! Quick fast service! Love it!!

BluRay/DvD 2011 Combo Pack ~ Excellent quality all around
I bought this product for my fiancee for Christmas. It was the first animated film she seen and it was with her grandmother who passed away when she was a young child. I of course got the Blu-Ray DvD set so she would be able to watch it regardless of where she was. I couldn't wait and gave it to her early ^_^ We both enjoyed it very much. The story was unique, and the audio and visual were good - visuals with the time it was made of course. I didn't find anything wrong with it and neither did she. Very good product despite the mixed reviews ~ I believe some people were rating the wrong product.I bought this product for my fiancee for Christmas. Awesome family show
Great story about a Unicorn that becomes human. In the process she learns about life issues humans have; love, doubt, hope & regret . She learns that being human comes with a lot choices and realizes being a Unicorn isn't so bad overall. Along the journey she meets up with a wizard in training and together they must face the fiery bull that has captured all the unicorns and gathered them into the sea. Explaining their no-existenceGreat story about a Unicorn that becomes human. In the process she learns about life issues humans have; love, doubt, hope & regret . The last unicorn
A childhood fav. It takes me back to the early 80's when my oldest sister took me to the movies to see it, just a great movie.
