Product Information

In ALIEN 4: RESURRECTION, the fourth installment of the wildly popular series of science fiction movies that began with ALIEN, a drop of Ellen Ripley's (Sigourney Weaver) blood spawns a part human, part alien Ripley clone. Now that Ripley is dead, the clone has fallen into the hands of government scientists who want to harness the Ripley clone's breeding powers. When the new and improved Ripley lands on a ship of androids, her mere appearance sets the action rolling. Stepping in to help put a stop to the madness is tiny android named Call (Winona Ryder), as well as the ship's fellow crew members (including Dominique Pinon, Ron Perlman, and Michael Wincott). For the first time in his feature film career, French director Jean-Pierre Jeunet (DELICATESSEN, THE CITY OF LOST CHILDREN) takes sole directorial credit, leaving his partner Marc Caro to concentrate on artistic direction. ALIEN RESURRECTION has far more in common with ALIEN 3 than the series' first two parts, most notably due to its overtly humorous tone. Jeunet also applies his traditional Gothic visual style to the slimy, effects-heavy riot, resulting in a work that is as reliant upon style as it is substance. Scripted by Joss Whedon, creator of the Warner Brothers television show, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, the film marks an energetic and flashy transition to Hollywood film making for Jeunet.

  • ALIEN RESURRECTION: Not a Ripley Off

With the fourth installment of the popular ALIEN Sci fi classic series, comes this high tech special effects flick with Sigourney Weaver returning as Ellen Ripely. After her horrible death in ALIEN-3 with an Alien Queen embryo bursting from her chest and falling into a pool of molten lava, 200 hundred years later a group of scientists have cloned another Ripley. Her-along with the embryo Alien Queen planted inside her are hoping to breed the ultimate weapon. But the resurrected Ripley is full of surprizes for when she gets her memory back, she causes "all hell" to break loose upon the military space station. Too combat the creatures, Ripley must team up with a band of smugglers who provide the military with bodies as "hosts' for the breeding Aliens. With the smugglers comes along an ...

  • Eeeeeewww....

I'd put off watching Alien Resurrection for a long time, I thought the whole concept was massive BS. When we last left our hero, Ripley, after finding out she had a queen alien inside her (I guess queens just sort of mentally impregnate you since SHE WAS NEVER FACEHUGGED IN ANY MOVIE), decided to kill two chicks with one stone and throw herself into a molten vat. You see, not only did she have to fulfill her prime objective in life to rid the universe of Aliens but good old Weyland-Yutani, your friendly galactic neighborhood supercorporation, wanted her and her contents for poking and prodding. Fast forward 200 years even further into the future: A lot of freaking good that did, Ripley!!! They went ahead and cloned you, the queen inside you, and a fairly sizable population of the rest of ...

  • Not the best of the series, but not the worst either

This fourth installment in the "Alien" series was certainly better than the difficult-to-believe Aliens 3, it still pales in comparison to the original and the action-packed sequel; "Aliens". Young males will appreciate the addition of Winona Ryder in the requisite 'robot that Ripley hates then has to depend on' role, but don't expect much "Winona eye candy". The action is a bit slower paced than Aliens, but there is enough of it to keep things enjoyable. A few of the characters are memorable (the shotgun-weilding paraplegic has some memorable lines). If you are expecting high art for the series, skip this and get the Director's Cut of "Aliens". If you just want a fairly decent shoot-em-up with alien acid-blood flying around, you won't be disappointed.

  • Alien Resurrection

Two hundred years after Ellen Ripley died trying to eliminate the Alien species, they brought her back from blood samples taken earlier. It took several tries, and un-fortunate failures to get it right, but they weren't interested in Ellen Ripley- they wanted the alien inside her; and they got it, but they got more than they bargained for. When the aliens grew smart, they broke out of their enclosures. When the crew tried to run, they killed them. And when the Queen's secret was revealed, it exposed a bizare DNA mix-up that left both Ripley and the queen's genetics intertwined; giving light to a new alien that could spell certain doom for Earth. This movie is an entertaining modern fairy tale, a horror action movie, a splatter for the masses. In these categories, it delivers.

  • Highly Recommend~Awesome Sequel

Most movies are hard to match, or even surpass the original. This was very impressive IMO. They keep the story interesting, and Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) being the main heroine never lets us down. My favorite part is the end, where Ripley kills the Alien (her own offspring) by using her (Ripleys) own acidic blood to burn a hole through a window on the ship, causing the creature to be sucked violently (to say the least) through the small hole and into space. Being released in '97, most Alien fans will have already seen this one, if you don't have it, I highly recommend it for your video library~
