In remaking this classic sci-fi horror film, director Tim Burton takes on a whopping challenge and succeeds. Astronaut Leo Davidson (Mark Wahlberg) is part of a space station crew that, in the year 2029, is conducting experiments in training genetically engineered chimps to perform complex away missions. When Leo's chimp disappears into a worm hole, Leo unadvisedly goes after him, ending up in a parallel world in which the monkeys are the keepers and humans are traded and caged like animals. It's a horrifying place, and the whole atmosphere, colored by Burton's direction and Rick Baker's incredible special effects makeup, is charged with terror. Leo becomes a heroic figure in the eyes of his defeated human brethren, and he puts his trust--and his hope for escape--in Ari (Helena Bonham Carter), a forward-thinking ape who believes in human rights. But Leo has formidable opponents in Thade (Tim Roth) and Attar (Michael Clark Duncan), two power-hungry, testosterone-charged apes who wish to rid the planet of humans altogether. This excellent rendition of PLANET OF THE APES is more than just a remake: it includes intense physicality on the part of the actors, complex mythology lacing the story, chilling philosophical realizations, and an amazing cameo by original APES star Charlton Heston. The combination of those complex parts makes for a riveting viewing experience.

    RETURN to THE PLANET OF THE APES .....again!

    It' hard to believe that it's been 10yrs since this Planet of the Apes was released in theaters and as far s sci-fi films [and remakes for that matter]goes this is one of the better offerings. Directed by Tim Burton [BATMAN,BEETLEJUICE, ED WOOD] with a big time cast that includes TIM ROTH, MARK WHALBERG, HELENA BONHAM CARTER and PAUL GIAMATTI, this film benefits greatly from wonderful special FX and make-up by RICK BAKER. Has some but not all of the elements that made the original such a classic. Still, it's fun to watch and enjoy with the family. The DVD is loaded with tons of extras including behind the scenes, a making of featurettes, and make-up and FX features.Some scenes may scare kids under a certain age so use discretion when watching. This works for any fan of THE PLANET OF THE ...

    Planet of the Apes

    I grew up a fan of every Ape movie made during the 70's, so I was really interested how the new Ape movie would compare. Well, in short it did not dissapoint. The cast was great, the storyline had threads of the old Apes and the rest was new, and the special effects was above par. I watched it with my family; wife and two kids aged 4 and 7. Nobody was scared or had ill effects due to the movie. Kids thought the apes were very cool looking and laughed at some of the antics. This is by far the most violent movie my kids have seen tho. If you are an Ape fan then this movie will NOT dissapoint. I highly recommend it.

    Planet of the apes

    I loved the begining ...If it just would have stayed true to the very 1st one we would have had a mega super hit ....It fell flat after the begining & was even alittle funny .I was looking for the old city from the original & never saw it ...They could have started over & redone each one & made Millions ...I could use some of that money just for telling them this ,I'd be glad to help reright it & doit the way (we ) the people are looking for a Planet of the apes movie should be done !!!!!

    Great movie for the price!

    I really enjoyed this movie. It is nothing like the old original ones with Charlton Heston, the scenes and everything being 21rst century and all. And also it is a good family flick for all ages. I got a steal on it being it was preplayed, and did not have to drive my gas out to get delivered from Ebay right to my door, along with several other good movies for alot less than one new store purchased movie. These helped, because we had just purchased our very first DVD Recorder/Player, also a real deal on Ebay. I can not thank all those who who make the real deals reality on Ebay like these. Again I highly recomend this movie to all, for the price, you can not beat it.
