Product Information

The beat goes on as players step up to this autumn 2004 edition of Konami's genre-founding "Bemani" series. Dance Dance Revolution Ultramix 2 is the second in the series to come to the Xbox, and continues the rhythm-based, foot-stomping, calorie-burning gameplay of earlier releases. Players score points by following onscreen directions in time to the music; while a gamepad will work, the best way to enjoy the game is with a dance mat controller, which has players tapping their feet to the beat. Like the original, Dance Dance Revolution Ultramix 2 is playable over the Xbox Live online service, allowing song downloads, content uploads, and head-to-head challenges between dance-happy gamers across the country.

DDR Ultramix 2 Plus Bonus Squishy Dance Pad Review
I had my first run in with Ultra Mix 2 probably about three years ago. Because of that, and being able to actually preview the track ahead of time, I decided to go back and purchase it. (Note, if you look through Google and search for track titles on DDR games you can actually preview the names of the songs on the particular title.) Pros: - The music is catchy and there are songs you've actually heard of, such as Elvis Presley, Flashdance, and others. There are some slower songs, but when you are doing the workout mode, it's always nice to have some slower ones in there. - The menu is easy to navigate. You don't get lost trying to find your way, and everything is clearly marked. - Party mode is also pretty fun giving you various different types of options. It was my first time ... It was my first time using it (I have two pads now) and it reminds me of Guitar Hero, though, don't be mistaken as this came before Guitar Hero. (I think. lol) Cons: - To go from Light to Normal is a rough jump. It's feasible, but difficult to do for someone wanting more than Light since there are lots of spaces, to Normal which is pretty crazy. I wish they would have made Normal just a little bit more... accessible. On a side note about the dancing pad... I've used both the squishy, lay out type and the hard, laminated one. The hard top dance pad can cost in the upwards of 100 dollars plus, not including shipping versus the roll out plastic ones that are significantly cheaper. Squishy vs. Hard Top - Squishy ones you cannot use them bare foot. Perhaps if you are nice and sweaty you actually stick, but it's doubtful as the top seems to be made out of polyester. Versus the Hard Top where bare foot is recommended cause you do stick. - Squishy ones slip around. I was using it in my living room on carpet and kept hurting my foot cause it would move back and I'd wang my ankle on the coffee table. Versus the Hard Top which stays in place because of weight and the material used. - Squishy ones seem to have less life and less responsiveness or even odd responsiveness. When using my brand new one, I found that I couldn't tell where I was on the mat. So I would miss a ton of notes cause I simply was too far up or too far down. Though also I have been told if used daily they will burn out in anywhere from 3mon-6mon (do research on that). Hard Top on the other hand last a long time. I'm sure there are flukes, but our Hard Top lasted well into 3 years. I've noticed that there is some lack of responsiveness now, but when we first got it, it was a dream! Plus, they have grooves between buttons so you know when you are standing too far down or up on pad. (My brand, mind you, not all.) So there you have it. In my opinion, if you plan to use DDR as a workout, make sure to buy a hard top. If it's just for fun occasionally, then a roll out, squishy one might be right down your alley. I just bought my DDR Ultramix 2 which had two squishy, roll outs included for under 40 dollars. Goes to show you how little you can spend to get quality entertainment.

Ultramix 2
We had Ultramix 4 already, and were looking to purchase some better dance mats than we had. We saw a package of 2 mats bundled with Ultramix 2, and placed our bid. While one of the mats we received was damaged, the vendor was gracious in replacing it for us with no problem. We started playing the game in single player mode right away. We never even bother with Ultramix 4 anymore! While 2 doesn't have a quest mode like in 4, it has much better songs, seems to be much more difficult while at the same time being immensely more fun. I would HIGHLY recommend this game to any DDR players out there. Also, the foam mats we are now using are MUCH better than the plastic mats that you purchase in most gaming stores. They are somewhat larger, wider, and are very soft on the feet. My wife needs ... We had Ultramix 4 already, and were looking to purchase some better dance mats than we had. One of the best games for keeping the kids exercising!
I would recommend this game to any parent who is concerned about the time their kids spend playing video games. We insist that they get one hour of outside time before they play games. This game allows them to learn coordination and get great exercise at the same time. My kids are having a ball with this game. I should have bought it last year for christmas but figured it would just get lost among the other games that they played once and never looked at again. My son is constantly coming in from the living room telling us his grade on the song he just finished. He is covered with sweat and loving it. If I asked him to jump on the eliptical machine I would get complaints but this game he loves the exercise. With fall and winter coming, I am looking forward to him having a way to get ... Dancing the Night away!
I really like playing DDR at Gameworks, so I decided to buy one online. I think it's a fun game. There is a variety of music choices and multiple ways to play. . . including a workout which counts calories. It also has different levels (beginner, advance etc. ) It came with the game and two pads. The one thing I dislike about this one which is why it's average is that it's a pad and it can sometimes move around on the floor(especially if it's carpet) while you are playing and your steps can get off. I've tried a few things and they work okay . . .I'm still working on it. Great product
Fast shipping. The pads are pretty big and there are a lot of songs in the game. If you what a cardio workout this will definatly help you out. The Beginner, light, heavy levels really make it easy to learn how to play well. This is a great game.
