Alvin and the Chipmunks (2008, DVD)
I was very disappointed in this DVD. Since I remember the originals, I would have liked to see more of the chipmunks, and less of the other stuff. They were really great brought to life, but the story just didn't take off and amuse me the way I had hoped. There was too much focus on the "evil" character. Too bad they didn't focus solely on Alvin, Simon and Theodore. Too many humans just spoiled it for me.

Dead Like Me - Complete Series Giftset
2 personnes sur 2 ont jugé cet avis utile. This series made us explore the darker as well as the lighter side of living and dying. It has huge entertainment and fantasy value. The relationships in families and at work, of the living and dead, were the foundation for great story lines. I was thrilled to see a gift set released with a new movie. The series is great to own, as it was, and is, just as excellent as I remembered it to be. The movie was a big dissappointment. It just didn't quite make the grade. They should have stuck with the original characters, played by the original actors and given the ending the series truly deserved, not a half baked new story that didn't really create the closure I beleive avid fans would have wanted.

I bought this after seeing it on a movie channel where I was not too impressed, but really liked certain parts. As I have seen it again, I have to say, Eddie Murphy is a brilliant actor, whether in disguise, or as himself. Not every little thing was great, but some parts made up for that. The acting was excellent from all cast members. Some small parts were absolutely histerical. The overall story was peppered with classic and some insulting humor, but that's what makes a movie of this kind entertaining. Murphy's Rasputia is just incredible. The overall quality makes up for the small insults.
