  • The Visitation DVD Review

The Visitation movie was, in my opinion, a very good movie if it stands alone. When you read the book and then see the movie, or vice versa-it doesn't matter, there is a level of disappointment. It is extremely hard, almost impossible to portray everything in a book onto the movie screen, but I think that this movie fell a little short of even giving the effects in the book itself. However, as I've stated before, if you watch only the movie, I think it justifies itself. I can't say it measures even mentioning The Poltergeist or The Exorcism of Emily Rose in the same sentence, but it is a great horror-thriller! With all these types of movies, I would not let a young child watch it or faint of heart, but all together it isn't all that bad. If you are a Frank Peretti fan, as I am, this would ...

  • Great Movie...what abou the book?

I have to say that I was very excited when I heard that The Visitation was going to be a movie. The book, by Frank Peretti of course, is one of my favorites, and I've read it many times. However, as I began watching the movie, I realized one thing. The names were the same, the story had been changed drastically. Not that it was a bad story, but I had come expecting to see the Visitation. I ended the movie liking it, but wishing it had more to do with the book. Overall good movie. Strange film shots and edits, but interesting. It might be an aquired taste for some viewers. Don't expect the book. You'll be disappointed.

  • I thought this movie would have a better outcome

This movie is about a town of people who believe in the miraculous healing powers of strangers that have come to their town. It is undetermined whether they are good because of the manner in which people are being healed. It is to be found out that the source of their healing is not of Jesus but rather of a satanic influence. I had expected much more of a Christian interaction and outcome. Just like a lot of other movies it "falls short" of being any kind of truly redemptive movies where Jesus Christ should be exalted and people should be literally running to Him after the negative experiences in the town since they have ben so misled by an antichrist figure that ruins their lives.

  • The Visitation (the film)

I bought this movie after recently reading the book by Frank Peretti. I also read his most recent novel, cowritten with Ted Dekker, House. In the back of the book was a DVD containing trailers to Ted Dekker's "Three" and Frank Peretti's "The Visitation." Of course, trailers only show the extremely good parts and sadly I was fooled into buying it. Don't get me wrong though, it does portray the general message Peretti was trying to get across in his book. The main actor also costarred in a fairly big movie recently, The Sentinel, with Kiefer Sutherland the star from Fox's hit 24. He's a good actor, everyone else is fairly decent if not convincing. All in all, I'm sure that if the film had a bigger budget it would be exceptionally better. The graphics for one are just corny. I would ...

  • The Visitation - An interesting film to say the least.

"The Visitation" is a good film interpretation of a very interesting book. The acting varies from mediocre to excellent depending on the scene and actors. One thing we really loved about was the acting of Justin Cantwell, the bad guy of the film. His highly dramatic style really brought the darkness of his character to the screen. By the end of the film, we not only hated him, but felt sort of bad for him too! One thing we did not like was the way the film's producer chose to indicate demon possession through some hokey black stuff appearing to come out of the possessed individual after the demon is exorcised. This may be either theatrically necessary or theologically sensible, but we found it gave a feeling of just plain hokum. All in all though, the film is good and portrays the battle ...
