More bag than you may need
The quality of this bag is first rate. However, there are some negatives I wish I had known prior to purchase. I would have chosen the smaller Saddlemen bag. This bag weighs a ton empty. By the time you fill it even half way with clothing, it is too heavy to mount on top of the tour pack. I found that the motorcycles steering was adversely affected, creating a hazardous situation as the "tail wagged the dog". Fortunately, I was touring solo, so I was able to stand the bag on its end on the passenger seat, and secure it with Rok straps. The 2" expansion feature is rather silly. I noticed no real advantage. I did not use the detachable bag or the shoulder strap. Also, the top opening zipper has a nasty tendency to get caught in the corners as you open or close it. This is quite aggravating. ... The only quality complaint I have. If you are going to mount the bag on a rack behind the passenger backrest, I suppose it will work fine. Keep in mind the weight and huge physical size of this bag. It is as wide as the tour pack, and stands quite tall when mounted. The bag's excess weight will prevent you from filling it full of anything but cotton balls. Again, high quality and no complaints about the build. Save yourself $100 and buy the smaller Saddlemen bag. This one is too heavy to use safely.

Looks great on a Harley trunk
This looks well built and looks great on the bike. I would like to see the D-rings on the upper sides located on the heavy top cover but not a deal breaker. Very nice bag. Fit everything my wife and I needed for a hotel overnight stay.

NOT MADE FOR THE SERIOUS MOTORCYCLE TRAVELER
I have used this bag for 120 days and the first day in the sun the leatherette top bubbled in the sun and the bag will eventually fade after exposure . The main compartment zipper broke around day 100 and if my wife wasn’t an expert at sewing the bag would have been trashed . One of the rack tie downs broke around day 80 and had to be fixed with a zip tie . The rain cover is totally useless and will eventually wear out in the wind . If you don’t put you items in ziplocks it will get wet because the bag itself is not waterproof in any way . At this price they should use waterproof 1900 DENIER NYLON and waterproof zippers like the H-D FXRG apparel so the bag would not need a rain cover . Using Scotchgard products will not work to keep you stuff dry so don’t waist you money . On the plus ... Very nice travel bag.
Was able to pack everything needed for a 4 day trip and still had room. Got caught in rain, used rain cover, nothing got wet and rain cover was fine at interstate speeds. Very nice product, was looking to buy the HD premium bag but this has more room, glad I chose this one.

Why so expensive?
I thought there was probably a reason this bag was so much more expensive than the other comparable bags. And there certainly is, the quality is amazing. All the attention to detail is great. All the extras are clearly added by people who know what is needed, and wanted by riders. Brent U.
