Product Information

Konami's distinct dance series shuffles its way from the arcades to living rooms as would-be dancers strut their stuff in five modes of play. Dance Dance Revolution, which originated in Japan as part of the Bemani style of interactive music games, involves pressing a series of directional buttons (or stepping on an optional dance mat accessory) to the beat of the music. By stringing together successful sequences, represented by multidirectional arrows, players can increase their onscreen dance meter and advance to more challenging routines. Fail to keep up with the arrows, however, and the meter will decrease and eventually end the game. <br><br>Modes of play include Game, Workout, Lesson, Training, and Edit. Game offers players the chance to compete alone, challenge friends, or to use both controllers simultaneously. Four difficulty levels are available and players can select from over 65 songs, each individually rated in stream (density in step patterns), chaos (complexity of step patterns), freeze (frequency of freeze arrows), air (number of jumps), and voltage (maximum density of step patterns). Difficulty modifiers, such as the appearance of dance steps and dance step patterns, can be altered, as well as their speed.<br><br>Workout Mode has players entering their weight and either the amount of calories they want to burn or the amount of time they want to play. Three workout programs are available, the results of which can be depicted on a graph over an extended period of time. Players can also see the dance routine's equivalent of jumping rope, swimming, or jogging based on their results. Lesson Mode is an interactive tutorial featuring 24 different exercises divided into three lessons, while Training Mode lets players practice a specific song until they get it right. Edit Mode gives players the chance to create their own dance routine to a song and save it to memory card.

    I know of noone who has ever tried DDR who hasn't enjoyed it, but for those seeking exercise motivation, this version is a really great start! The workout mode on this game is incredible, letting you choose a light, standard or heavy workout, and allows you to track short or long-term activity with your memory card, measuring time & calories burned, & even compares your accomplishments with comparable time in jogging, swimming and jumping rope! The dance pads (sold separately) are full-sized enough for full-figured adults, yet kids can handle them with ease. In Game mode, single and multi-player modes are offered, as well as a single player mode using two dance pads, for an extra challenge! The amount of game time required before new songs are released for play could be decreased, but ...

    Definitely a MUST for pre-teens, teens and adults!

    Not only is this fun for kids and adults, it is a great cardio workout! I have 3 girls, ages 10, 12, and 12 and an 18 year old son. The first week we had it, the girls played it for 4-6 hours STRAIGHT! During the snow days, we couldn't get them off it! The music is fun (100's of songs to choose from) and it also teaches hand-eye, or in this case, foot-eye coordination. My husband and I did it for about 10 minutes and we were totally winded. The description says it can be used for cardio workouts for adults, too. Our teenage son and his friends even got up and tried it one night. They were laughing so hard and really enjoying themselves. This can be used by one player or by a whole party, as long as they are willing to play two at a time! We highly recommend this, but be prepared to get ...

    Best Purchase in a While

    My kids are getting exercise and having fun doing so. They all get up and try to do the dance even without a mat so it is fun to watch all 4 boucing around, even my 4 year old. My 8 year olds coordination has improved significanly. This is a great activity for th whole family. My 14 year old has lost 8 pounds and has just been having fun with DDRMax. Instead of sitting down and watching TV, they are all dancing.

    Extremely Addicting for all ages!!!!

    I bought this for myself thinking it would be a good way to start moving and grooving some calories off. OH MAN!!! I was right. this is so much fun! within a week my 7 and 11 year old daughters are on it and yesterday my 5 year old asked to get on it. I was intimidated by it at first but once you get the settings right it's a blast. The best part for me is that I can set my own calories I want to burn in workout mode. Then choose song after song until i've met my goal LOVE THAT! You will amaze yourself at how quick you get good too. i'm still on the easy mode but i'm trying faster beats in different songs! If you can't dance this is for you if you CAN dance, HAVE FUN!!!

    Much Fun

    Very easy to understand with different levels to challenge you, or allow the less cordinated to play along. If you have an extra dance mat, this game also allows to either dance with a friend, or against. Very fun way to work out, with fun music. Wish there was more 'known' American music, but the game is still entertaining. I have this one, DDRMax 2, and and one of the other ones (I can't remember the name).
