Patton ( 2006, 2-Disc Set, Special Edition)
The 1970 Oscar winner of Best Picture is worth owning and viewing. If the role of the Casting Agent's importance is ever in question, see this movie; the lead role of General George S. Patton, Jr., is cast perfectly. It would be difficult to find a similar perfect match of the casting selection. Karl Malden as Gen. Bradley is great as well. The story tells of actual events that happened to Gen. Patton, including the "dressing-downs" by his superiors. Quite clear that the top-brass waqs not sure how to handle this talented but troubled military strategist. I can see why this movie won the Academy Award Oscar for Best Picture. Best war movie of all time (in my humble but totally accurate opinion)!
As true to life as possible, according to my personal study of General Patton. George C. Scott is magnificent in this role. I'd almost rather say, "General George S. Patton plays George C. Scott." This movie is a must watch for any fan of war movies or military history.

Old Blood and Guts faithfully presented
A classic of its genre, this film does not attempt to mislead the viewer about the nature of war in the manner of so many diluted war films. Patton, the warrior, maverick general, wealthy California aristocrat and crude charlatan, is displayed warts and all in a virtuoso performance that is surprisingly faithful to the historical record. It is a long film, devoid of love interest - or indeed any interest except the fulfillment of the destiny of George S. Patton. It ends with his departure from Third Army so, sadly, the viewer is deprived of the ironic futility of Patton's death, of his disillusioned and "voice-in-the-wilderness" path to his grave in Luxembourg. But what it tackles it tackles well, portraying Generals Bradley, Eisenhower and Bedell Smith from an objective viewpoint. It ... A classic of its genre, this film does not attempt to mislead the viewer about the nature of war in the manner of so many diluted war films. PLOT: best of the BEST bio based on factual material of George Patton oscar Winner George C. Scott~ I cannot say enough how everyone needs to watch this once~ even if you do not like World War 2 the bio and portrayal by Scott is the BEST~ from scene one we are learning how Patton is ruthless in his drive to win great victories. a Brilliant man who studied ancient battles he knows his stuff~ We have fun along the way~ Patton who prays on his knees but swears compusively~ gives us the convoluted fun look at this brilliant soldier~ Scott won the Oscar which he REFUSED for personal and political reasons~ but none the less he deserved it and then some~ we see him push everyone around him to POINT WHERE THEY hate HIS guts~ as his ruthless drive helps win land, time and victories to help shorten ... Patton who drove him men to the point of exhaustion and then some made some Won many of the most remarkable battles and victories in World War 2~ add to the FUN dislike of Monty. I GIVE IT A 50 OUT OF 10 FOR EXCELLENT STORY TELLING AND UNBELIEVABLE DETAIL AND winner of 8 ACADEMY AWARD INCLUDING SCOTT AND BEST PICTURE~ IF YOU FOUND THIS REVIEW HELPFUL PLEASE REMBER TO VOTE~

The ultimate WWII film, from the point of view of a brilliant general.
This is a classic, and although there are a few conflicts with the actual historical events, much of it hews to the facts. Scott, of course, was the logical choice for the role. His voice is an octave or two lower than that of the real man, but this lends to Patton's sense of gravitas. (Note that he didn't have a bitter, insulting rivalry with Monty. They actually worked well together.) If you haven't already seen this movie, I strongly urge you to buy a copy and see it at least once. (I've screened for myself and for friends about four or five times, and enjoyed it just as much the last time as I did the first.This is a classic, and although there are a few conflicts with the actual historical events, much of it hews to the facts.
