Utterly fascinating....
Sir Richard Attenborough has done a superb job with this film. It is objective, well researched and brings in the main players of India's independence struggle. It portrays Gandhi as the leader of the independence ("quit India") movement and his amazing humanity, high morals, incredible humility and indomiatable will in such an inspiring way. A great example and icon for today's youth. Hats off also to Sir Richard for the fair and factual way this epic of a film is narrated, as it actually shows the British in rather poor light. It is also an eye-opener for many of us who thought the Brits went to India to help them and shows some of the brutality of the British Raj to the Indians to subjugate them. In our present troubled times of the horrors of war and violence in our world this film ... Sir Richard Attenborough has done a superb job with this film. Gandhi the Movie
Gandhi has been a favorite movie of mine for decades. I love this movie because it is based on the true story of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi and his fight for the rights of an oppressed India through the principles of Non-violent Civil disobedience, which is a difficult but dutiful way to create the changes so needed in times of corruption! I feel the directors did a marvelous job depicting the setting, situations, and scope in as much accuracy as they could find (which was very much) on the life and the country of the man who became known as "Mahatma", or "Great Spirit". The cast could not have been better. This is Ben Kingsley's master piece role, he is a great actor in any movie, but Gandhi will be his finest of moments! This is a must see movie, an all time classic. It makes me ... Gandhi has been a favorite movie of mine for decades. hard to believe that a pacifist could have such an effect on the world. Although there is no "action" or rather violence perpertrated by gandhi there is a suprising amount surrounding him. Starting from his beginnings as a lawyer in south africa ruled by aparthied and eventually returning to his home land of india gandhi holds true to his principle of non violence. Various encounters between him and governments are showcased. Truely a remarkable man considering the "active" part of his life was in his mid years. He originated simple solutions to large problems.Ghandi is truely one of the few humans who changed the world without violence. STILL GREAT TO WATCH AFTER ALL THESE YEARS!
This movie still holds up, after al these years. Most of the time, when I order an old movie that I think would be great to see again, and it's not available on Netflix or Prime or Hulu or etc.etc., when I buy it - it's dated and embarrassing to watch. Not the case with this Academy Award winning Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Director, Best Screenplay, etc. etc.

Amazing angel from God
Gandhi's mission was to invite peace among brothers and sisters upon God's planet Earth to teach us to fight with love and not hate to bring peace and not war. This man is an inspirational Peacemaker and Saint in my eyes.
