Not as Bible based as I would like.
1 personnes sur 1 ont jugé cet avis utile. I am on week two of the seven week study, and there have been a couple of days already that have not even required me to look up verses for the session. Seems that for a Bible study, each day should include actual Bible study. One particular phrase also has been bothering me. In the last lesson I completed, the author discusses legalism. This is not my issue. The issue is that she says that legalism goes against the “Bible’s broad inclusive precepts.” The Bible literally states, “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat.” Saying that the Bible has “broad, inclusive precepts” is at best poor word choice, and at worst, a complete fallacy that toys with the idea that God doesn’t have a standard. Living a perfect life is not the path to salvation. But this should not be mistaken for the idea that you should not obey the laws that God has set forth. God forgives us when we fail and fall short; this does not mean His standard can be changed and molded to be more “inclusive.”
