Exactly what I'd hoped for
My band has been trying to get in-ear monitoring set up for a while. The main hold up was figuring out how to get drums in-ear as efficiently as possible. Enter the EAD10. Instead of putting two microphones on each drum, I can just put the main mic on my bass drum and send one cord to our system. Thus avoiding conflicts with the sound person as much as possible.
So far we've only used it in practice but the results appear promising. I have a separate snare trigger on order which will give me finer control over the sound and volume of the snare.
There are also multiple ways to output the sound from the module. Including a headphone out, Left(mono) and Right out, and USB out.
The scenes are fun but generally not that useful besides the compressor scene.
At the end of the day, I would say the EAD10 sounds worse than if you were to put mics on the whole kit. But when you consider the price it's hard to beat the EAD10.
