XBOX 360 - powerhouse of a gaming system
3 personnes sur 3 ont jugé cet avis utile. The XBOX 360 gaming console is a nice addition to any household. Yet, just like everything, it's not perfect.
The lineup of games available on the 360 is the strongest out of any of the next-gen consoles so far. Since the 360 was the first next-gen console to be released, the XBOX has a lot more titles available than its Sony and Nintendo counterparts. Yet, its exclusive titles are brains behind the console's brawny hardware. Halo 3 and Gears of War are just two of the critically acclaimed exclusive XBOX titles. The console also has many great exclusive upcoming games such as Gears of War 2, Too Human, and world's most anticipated RPG of 2008 - Fable 2. And, let's not forget great games like Grand Theft Auto IV and Soulcalibur IV, which are available on the XBOX 360 and also on the Playstation 3.
If your television supports the 1080p HDTV resolution, as good as HDTV gets, then the XBOX 360 will leave you breathless. The console still supports other resolutions, but some games won't look their best. XBOX 360 also supports the use of an HDMI cable, which is sold separately unless you buy the "Elite" version of the console.
Although the console is great and all, it has some negatives. XBOX only supports the playback of one type of HD movie media, and unfortunately it's HD-DVD. I say unfortunately because Blu-Ray, which is supported by Sony's console - Playstation 3, defeated the HD-DVD in the war for the next best media for movie playback. Also, many XBOX 360 systems built soon after release had been reportedly malfunctioning. But, in my opinion, the biggest drawback for the XBOX 360 is the monthly fee for Microsoft's online service entitled XBOX Live. XBOX Live is required for online multiplayer, which is supported by most of the console's games. Although, you get your money's worth when using XBOX Live.
Overall, the positives of the XBOX 360 gaming console easily overshadow the few negatives. The awesome exclusives, HDTV support, connectivity with mobile devices, and much much more make the XBOX 360 a powerhouse of a gaming system.
