Non-Standard Versus Standard Presta Valve Designs

This particular design of tube comes with non-standard (unthreaded) presta valves. A standard presta valve comes with a both a M6 x 0.75 external thread for the full length of the outer stem (for external stem nut engagement) and a M5 x 1.0 external thread for the stem tip (for attaching the tube cap). This tube only comes with the stem tip threads. The item description is misleading in that it does not clearly state that this item is considered to be non-standard (see Wikipedia article on presta valves). Due to the small tire size and rim width of 700x28C tires, an engagement nut is necessary to ensure that the long stem has sufficient support to prevent lateral stem rotation and consequential cutting of the stem saddle, leading to early tube failure.

Expensive Cassettes

All Braun cassette heads from this vintage of shaver are expensive. In some cases, they are close to 75% of the purchase price of the original shaver. Braun makes a good quality shaver, but they need to remain orice competitive with other brands.

Poor Bag Design for Size

Pros: Rollers of good size and quality. Heavy duty zippers. Internal straps/buckles for holding two pairs of skis/poles edgewise or one pair flat. Internal zippered compartment for small gear (not boots). Padded handle. Shoulder strap. Internal and external padding in binding area. Economical. Cons: No boot compartment(s), so a separate boot bag will be needed if carrying two pair of skis, or you will be packing one pair of skis flat and wrapping your boots. Additional full-length external/internal padding needed. Heavier duty polyester fabric needed to prevent edge cutting and tearing. Roller end of bag has poor rigidity which is provided solely by skis/poles. No zipper latches/locks. Internal zipper was installed incorrectly (reversed). Laying skis flat restricts length to 177 cm due to roller interference. Will not accommodate wider powder skis in flat orientation. Only one small gear compartment. Additional interior/exterior strapping needed. In summary, a poorly designed bag for its size.
