Excellent game, but will cost a small fortune to 100% Might not be worth it
The newest installment in the Skylanders series of toy-based action adventure games. This game is designed to strain your wallet and it's painful to say that it's a really good game, making justifying the extra purchases.
The story is pretty cut-and-dry in these games. Without spoiling the twist, Kaos is up to no good again and it's up to you, the Portal Master, to send in the new Skyland Trap Masters to fight against him and the hoard of villains he unleashed on the realm. You explore the levels while battling monsters, trapping villains, and discovering locked elemental gates. Pretty standard Skylanders fare.
What separates this entry from the others is the ability to play as the villain characters for a limited time through the use of traps, one of four changes to the series. These traps are reusable, though can only carry one villain at a time. While the villains have simplified mechanics compared to the heroes, they are just as strong if not more powerful than most Skylanders, and smart use of them can make the difference between keeping your favorite character in play or losing them for the level.
Another change is the addition of playable Sidekick Skylanders, who are identical to their larger counterparts except for a small boost in speed and the obvious size difference. This extra speed makes some characters, such as Bash and Tree Rex, more viable to use in their miniature forms, Bop and Barkely respectively. Any sidekick from previous games, who were there mostly for show, are useable as characters in Trap Team.
The third change made in this game is the addition of Trap Masters, who are skylanders specializing in the use of enchanted weapons made of the rare material known only as traptanium, (did I mention this series is for kids). These characters deal more damage to major villains encountered throughout the story and are on par with the other signature heroes from past games. They are also the only way to unlock elemental gates in this game, which is where I personally find grievance and distaste for the series moving onward.
The fourth and final major change brought to Skylanders Trap Team is the addition of two new elements, light and darkness, complete with their own trap masters, traps, and expansions. At a surface level, I don't find fault with this in the slightest; light and dark have been hinted at in previous games, defined as actual forces rather than concepts, so having heroes and villains pertaining to them makes about as much sense as the life and undead elements. Where I draw the line is the limited release of these packs have led to them being picked up by scalpers, who are more than happy to hike the price up to $20 over retail.
Assuming you purchased the dark edition pack, which comes with the rare and heinously expensive Kaos trap, it would cost you roughly $344 to complete the game at 100%. Is this game worth that much money? That really depends on the individual that you ask. Personally, I think the idea of changing the elemental gates is insulting to the consumers, especially long-time fans of the series who now have very little incentive to keep up with the figures they have played with for years.

Excellent Monitor for the price
excellent monitor that fits my computer's uncommon visual output port. Great screen and surprisingly versatile base. I look forward to purchasing again as soon as time allows.

Would buy again if the need arises, very satisfied; be sure to reboot used.
Purchased to play with friends and family, as well as get in touch with old friends who have since moved across the nation.
Online handles well, the two usb ports is generally enough for my needs, 160 GB is plenty as I plan on owning many games in their disk form and owning this system for many years.
Was not aware of this, but when using a used system on a new display, it's important to hold down the power button on the system for about 4 seconds to cause a system reboot that reconfigures the video output/digital output of the device to work with that particular television.
