Excellent value
I haven't had a chance to use the microphone, but I can say that it appears to be built sturdy enough for every day use. As for the frame, it is of one piece construction and fits around the camera much easier than the $20 GoPro brand frame. The brand name frame I bought broke after only one use. A corner chipped off when trying to fit it to the camera. This housing is made to stretch/spread over the camera with no need for the "clamp" that is used on the brand name frame. I like it much better and bought two more for spares. After all, it's made of plastic so I expect it to break at some point, but not as easily as the brand name frame did. At this price, it's worth it to buy an extra frame or two. If you search, you'll be able to find the frame without the microphone. If all you need is a frame, try and find one with the bigger cut-out on the left side so you can have access to all of the ports on the camera. This frame only allows access to the microphone port. Not a deal breaker by any means.

Good product but...
The adapter works and is good for the ~.5 amps it is rated for. It just wasn't enough for my application. I had no way of knowing since my device does not give any information about its power requirements. If you have a device that has a low power draw, it would be great for that.

Great product
I've seen other, more expensive units that just didn't compare to this one. One great feature is the spring loaded retainer (the top part) which holds the phone very securely. I had my doubts until I actually received and used it, but the spring does in fact give a nice, tight fit. Another is the four side retainers. They are individually adjustable for width and you can also move them to accommodate different button locations on your phone. In my example, I had to move the top, right one down to the middle position (white slot you can see in the photo) so I had access to the power button. Something I never considered before purchasing. It was a pleasant surprise to see it could be moved. You'll need a mounting bracket in order to mount it to what ever it is you're mounting it to, but other than that, you're good to go.
