The best SHMUPS for the PS1, PS2

At least this game has a beginner mode which allows you to get familiar with the hundreds of things shooting at you. Very difficult even on the easy setting, but not impossible. Takes a lot of time. Graphics are incredible and the sounds are as good as any arcade. Very fun game, they don't make them like this any more. Much easier to play than Einhander.

Great graphics, nearly impossible game play

Even on the easiest setting it is nearly impossible to beat. Very unenjoyable. When I put a game on the easiest setting, I want it that way--easy--then I can build up to harder settings. What I don't want is nearly impossible on the easiest setting.

It's okay--a little hard to get used to.

It's okay. The draw distance is not as good as the original 3DO version, as everything is covered in fog, and you can't see your targets until they are already firing on your position. The game has a problem with the rendering; everything turns a weird shade of blue panels when you get up too high, and you have no way to know which way you are pointing or heading. This game on this platform confirms the best way to play is on the 3DO itself.
