Attractive locomotive for early era train layouts.
This locomotive looks and operates just fine. Some of the parts are plastic so care should be used when handling it or if packing or unpacking in a box. The front light and a few other parts that extend out from the locomotive are plastic and caution is required. The locomotives and not designed to pull heavy loads or run as fast as some of the other all metal later era Lionel locomotives. They are, however, attractive and enjoyable to watch, particularly if you are planning an older era train layout. Remember, the real locomotives of that era could not pull loads or run as fast as the steam locomotives of the 1940s and 50s.

Williams Dummy Locomotive Upgrade Kit
These kits provide an easy way to upgrade a Williams dummy (non-powered) locomotive to a full powered unit. They can also be used to restore power and reversing functions to an older Williams locomotive that is not running up to par. To use these kits, you should have some basic knowledge of hand tools, basic knowledge of electricity as used electric trains and some soldering skills. The kit comes with two motors with attached wiring, two complete wheel trucks with gears, one circuit board and one bracket to attach the circuit board to the locomotive. If you have not used one of these kits before, carefully follow the steps as outlined in the accompanying instruction sheet. Hold the new circuit board in the same position as the circuit board in the diagram to make sure that the wiring connectors from each motor are placed in the proper position on the circuit board for correct operation. With the wiring from the motors having connectors that plug directly into the circuit board, there is no need for soldering. You may, however, have to solder leads from the lights on the locomotive to ensure that they receive electricity. One last point. Make sure that you order the right upgrade kit for the locomotive that you want to upgrade. While it is true that some of the kits will upgrade several different locomotives, they (the kits) are not all interchangeable. Therefore, double check to make sure you order a kit that upgrades the locomotive you have. I'm sure that you will take great satisfaction as I do bringing a locomotive back to life for many more years of service using these kits.
