Best with a Tube Amp
I have been a Les Paul/ Marshall guy for around 40 years. I recently made a huge change in my live rig from a Marshall tube amp to a new Orange Crush 100. I am now changing all my Alnico II pickups to Alnico V. For me, the distinct warmth of the Alnico II paired with a tube amp is lost when using a solid state. Hotter, brighter pickups paired with the Orange Crush get really close to a true tube amp sound.
