Nothing like the first one, but still a worthy sequel
Being a huge fan of The Descent I was looking forward to this movie for quite some time. I knew beforehand that The Descent's director (Neil Marshall) wasn't behind the camera for Part 2, so already I had kind of a bad feeling...plus it didn't get widely released in U.S. theaters like its predecessor, another bad sign. Turned out to be not too bad, but definitely not even close to as good as the first. No genuine scares or thrills...ALL cheap jump scares and you can tell when most of them are coming. The first one was partly effective because all of the actresses had great chemistry and you actually cared for them, something Part 2 seemed to be lacking. There are a few nicely done claustrophobic scenes and also plenty of gore, but all in all it's an obvious attempt to cash in on the first's success. If you haven't seen The Descent I would highly recommend watching it first...you might get slightly confused if you don't. If you're a fan of the first one you most likely won't be completely disappointed, but don't go in thinking it's going to be another The Descent. I'd rate it a solid 5-6/10.

Hilarious - But in a ridiculous, over-the-top way
Just watched this movie last night and I must say that it was pretty hilarious, but in your typical, over-the-top Happy Madison type of way. If you are a fan of Grandma's Boy, Happy Gilmore, or any Happy Maddison picture then you should without a doubt be a fan of this movie. Stange Wilderness has absolutely no plot whatsoever and non-Happy Madison fans will most likely not find it very amusing, as the jokes and humor are slapstick and completely gross-out and most have nothing to do with the intended plot, but are just there to add comedy to it. I definitely would recommend renting this movie first, unless you can find it for fairly cheap to add it to your collection. The comedy of the movie comes from all of the characters, there isn't one person who steals the show. It is also a really short movie, by the time the credits rolled it was about 1hr and 17mins., so if you need a movie to just kick back for some very good laughs and let your brain take a rest then look no further.

Best monster movie ever made---period
Completely ignore killraven's review, he needs to go back to high school english for one, and for two he doesn't have a legitmate reason as to why he dislikes the movie. This movie is unlike any horror/monster movie ever made. It's filmed entirely on a hand-held camera which makes it almost too realistic at times; you feel like you are right there with the characters, not knowing what will happen next. I sat forward in my seat with my hands on my head pretty much the entire time after the monster initially attacks, it's intense. I am not going to describe what the monster looks like, except that the thing is HUGE; you will have to see it for yourself. At times you may think that the cameraman acts a little out of character and not really very serious about the situation, but after I thought about it, I couldn't really say anything because who knows what a person would act like in a situation like that...you're at a party having a good time and then ALL of a sudden a gigantic monster starts attacking the city; what would you do, what would you say? You would have to try and make the situation a little humorous or else you would go crazy, just like he says in one line in the movie. So, to conclude my review, I highly recommend this movie. The hand-held camera alone is a reason to see it, and at times you will think to yourself, "how in the hell did they do that?" It is a fairly short movie, about 80 mins. not counting the credits. The characters are unknowns which also adds to the realisticness of the film, and they do a terrific job. Cloverfield is filled with thrills, chills, suspense, and a little bit of humor thanks to the cameraman. 9/10.
