Finally one CD where you can direct the un-initiated, musically illiterate friends and acquaintances for at LEAST one opportunity to listen to a blue’s GREAT!
These tracks span the entire recorded career of this songwriter, story-teller, musician, performer… from his impromptu recording session with Bruce Channel on “Hey Baby” in 1961, to the soulful, heart-felt longings of “You Were Never Mine”. If you have LIVED, you have felt these emotions, Delbert McClinton has put these emotions in sounds that you feel and hear. Anyone who hears this well titled, “Definitive Collection”, will want to rush out and find EVERYTHING available by this artist. Yes, I am a fan, have been since I saw him years ago in Richmond, Va. (Thanks, Lynn; for the introduction!) He is, of course, better LIVE, but in-between times, this is a great one CD starter kit! I hope he continues his long, wonderful career for many years! I promise this will be like an entrée to the main course of your musical experience with this impossible to categorize artist. Blues? R&B? Rock? Country? YES! All on those and much more.
