The Lizzie Bennet Diaries - The Complete Emmy Award Winning Series 9 Disc Set
    11 avr. 2019
    The Lizzie Bennet Diaries
I saw some of this series on Denver, Colorado Channel 31-3 TBD and really liked it. This particular DVD set was reasonably priced, unlike the others I found. I did a marathon one-day viewing with my niece when she was visiting while her father had back surgery and got her hooked on it like I was. I am old, have been a computer user since 1976 when I started using the mainframe computer in the mine where I worked, have always been a Jane Austin fan, and love the Pride and Prejudice version by BBC. Now, I love this modern, relevant version, although we must all agree Jane Austin is never irrelevant. This version is fresh, modern, and incredibly creative.
The Odd Job by Charlotte MacLeod (2001, Cassette, Unabridged)
    30 nov. 2017
    Oddly enough
The Odd Job is one of Charlotte MacLeod's better books. The villain is not male, but she is as selfish and vicious as male villains commonly are. I have no trouble visualizing the figures in tight black dresses and deep decolletage, swirling around some poor hapless victim, because Ms. MacLeod's descriptions make it easy. Her ability to create characters who are believable, particularly her villains, is first rate. All of the Kellings are examples of this ability. I also enjoy the "Boston-ness" of her characters. Since I am a Colorado native, to me, the "Boston-ness" makes it almost like reading about some exotic foreign place. .
