Red Skelton - America's Clown Prince (DVD,2003)

A hobby of mine is collecting old comedy/variety TV programming because such shows are no longer produced and can't be found in re-broadcasts. When I discover one of my old programming interests being offered, I check out the details and pricing and I'll often decide to buy it. The Skelton programs are a good investment because they're licensed and professionally re-mastered.

Some "lost" episodes, commercial-free, good laughs for all ages.

This set contains several episodes I had not watched before; it's common to have certain episodes "cross over" into other sets. Collectors on the lookout for original commercials that ran with these episodes decades before, however, may be disappointed to find out that the packager of this set removed the old ads. In sum, these are fine examples of comedy that doesn't reach for the lowest common denominator.

Worth viewing not only once, but repeatedly.

This tape consists of ads that I had vivid memories of and also faint memories of, meaning that the ads were in many cases not what I could accurately recall after so many years and events in my young life. Best of all were the ads that I had no memory of whatsoever, with familiar faces that I was able to spot right away.
